we have heard of rare cases whereby sometimes (rare) NUS High student may Transfer out to other Junior Colleges, for "A" level.

How about the other way round ?
is it possible, from IP Secondary into NUSH ?

Since NUSH academic rigor is faster pace, more strenuous than IP Sec school, maybe Transfer down to 1 year behind ?

recently attended an Open house where students have to sit for some selection Test, see whether they can get selected to join SMTP (Science Maths Talent programme), or get NUS professors down to their campus, to teach them some enrichment module, get them attached to work on some research projects.

In my mind, i was thinking …
In NUSH, the entire campus are all SMTP : no need to sit for what selection test, to qualify to get in.

May I know usually when is NUSH open house?

Also, I’m just wondering, since NUSH is for those good in maths and science, does it also mean that quite a fair bit of students end up in NUS medicine course eventually as they are ‘stronger’ in triple science results? Anyone can share how many went medicine per year roughly? Thanks.

NUS High do not generally accept transfer students , they have to apply for Year 3 DSA, and those who pass will still have to go through bridging modules.

May I check if we need teacher’s recommendation in order to take majors in Year 5 or just need to obtain CAP of > 4.5 for the subjects ? What is the max of majors can we take ? Is it max 4 ? Thanks.

Most (if not all) will get the majors that they opt for, while honours will depend on grade. Maximum number of subjects is 4.

Not sure about Nus Med, but not many in LKCSom, just a couple of them. Most of the students come from JCs.

Also, the medical schools are not looking for people who are exceptionally strong in maths or science. They look for people whom they feel will make a good doctor. Moreover, you don't need triple science, but must however have at least a B grade (A levels) in chemistry among your subjects.

In addition, it’s hard to find many of NUSH anywhere. There are just so few of us…

Students opt for the modules at the end of year 4, in subject specialisation exercise. Grades required are generally A- (if I recall correctly), though less competitive honours may give slightly more slack, while more competitive ones less so.

Those who did not get their honours may appeal, subject to their results, other honours (if they have), as well as a talk/interview with the HOD.
