Don't worry. HCI is a SAP school, which means that you take both of the subjects as 1st language. They not going to side towards Chinese/abandon English, they even adopted the Language arts syllabus for English.

I'm from HCI and my classmates' Chinese really suck. When I mean suck, i mean really suck. However, at the end of the year (take the seniors as examples) their chinese become really good and they get enthusiastic in it.

Oh, and HCI is larger than RI although it's building structure is a bit 😛

so u are saying not to worry if my ds don't like Chinese as eventually he will build up his interest in HCI? :?

Passing both Eng and HCL is a must at HCI as part of the promotional criteria every year while I understand from my frend's son it need not be so for HCL at RI or NUSH. Anyone here know otherwise? This \"hash\" criteria about HCL at HCI might have scared some students away.

Well, I got one, and I'm in HCI. My chinese wasn't that fantastic - I used to be ranked the 10th for Chinese in my primary school and yet I can get a distinction.

My Sec 2 son is thinking of trying for RA History. I heard that it will be good if he can prepare for it. May I know if anyone has any suggestion as to what he may do to increase his chance please? He is not in GEP and not particularly bright. His main interest is in war history, but it is not very relevant right? Thanks in advance 🙂

Shouldn’t he ask his teacher that? By asking, he is showing his passion which may help when the teacher is thinking of who to recommend or putting a good word in.

my son has been telling me they always have relief teacher to teach them, at times can be as long as like 7-8 months, and the worst is that the relief teacher has just completed "A" level only. so many a times, the students have to rely on themselves to study hard

It is quite normal. As discussed in some previous discussion, my DS has more than 3 relief teachers in one subject. My DS feedback that some relief teachers are better than the normal staff. Some of my friends were telling me it is worst in other schools.
