After DD's PSLE results then I tell you good or not. πŸ˜‚

You could be right. But from what I am hearing from my ex-students most of them are also attending all sorts of enrichments or tuition outside of school. That seems to be the norm these days. It is not just the amount of work that the schools seem to be churning out but the challenging nature of it. Parents feel compelled to put their kids in tuition and enrichments because they feel that their kids are not able to cope with the school work.

Kids who can afford to go to your school... Sure can afford tuition!! πŸ˜†

      Whoa, BIG hint!

      Eton or St Pat's? :scratchhead:

You're right...labbit doesn't have pockets. But you are an intelligent rabbit with a pocket somewhere

I was from Punggol Primary School in the North-east area. Seeing all the recommendations to drill with the NYPS and RGPS papers, I have a suggestion to not do the 2015 RGPS Science paper, or the preliminary examination papers from RGPS in general. I am currently enrolled in RGS and I have many friends who were from RGPS (like a third of the class?). They said that the preliminary examination papers were extremely easy compared to the PSLE papers and did a poor job of estimating their final scores. Not very sure about the NYPS papers though. But ya, papers in general are awesome for preparation (duh). Blaze through all the papers, finish prelim practice papers by July and from August-PSLE revise nonstop. Yeah.

(side note: Punggol's prelims were harder than PSLE IMO)

            Thanks for reading πŸ™‚
Hi parents, is it better to do P6 top sch exam papers or Psle 5 /6 years series?

I hearsay that if lack of time, just do NYPS and RGPS papers will suffice + PSLE past yr papers.

I intend to let my P5 ds do those PSLE papers starting this Dec hols.

The enrichment classes which u sent him to are for P5 or P6? So fast can do PSLE papers :scared:
I tot it's okay to attempt PSLE papers at end of P5. Just skip those qns on topics that are not taught yet. Otherwise how to find time to work on them during normal sch days.

For my ds, he really struggles to complete the h/w being dished out this yr. They're always done JIT nowadays. Last year was more manageable iirc.
If your concern is the child is staying back in school, isn't it time to train them now? Afterall, when they go Sec 1, most likely they will need to stay in school for longer hours and more days to stay back too.

P6 is the time to train the kids about time management, to grow up, to be responsible for their own results. All the best to P6 kids!

How come staying back in school also need training?? :scratchhead:

no need to train...the kids will slowly adjust having to stay back slowly in sec 1.
What I meant is, is good to let the child get used to staying longer hours in school, afterall, in Sec 1, their school hours are longer too.
                  Is a matter of time.

Afterall, if the child attends tuition classes, he/she also need to spend 2-3 hours at the tuition centre.

I personally feel supplementary classes help the students in PSLE preparation, is 'free tuition' by school teachers, is encouraged to attend.

IMHO, To have supplementary class is fine but to start them any earlier than p4/5 is a bit ridiculous.

                      :goodpost: i certainly agree.
there is no reason to start supplementary classes before p5. syllabus can be completed for p1-4...unless the supplementary lessons are having external vendors brought in to supplement...that is what I term 'supplement'...supplement what is taught in school during curriculum hours.

Well, it depends on the community that school is serving. In some areas, it would be good to keep the vulnerable kids in school so that they won’t loiter around the neighbourhood, especially those with no adults at home.
