All I know so far is that it will take place between 8:30am and 12pm. In addition, based on the information in the handbook, it seems like there are 2 more subjects briefing sessions on Jan 30th 5-8pm and Feb 6th 6:30-9pm. Not sure if the latter 2 sessions are confirmed or not.

Thank you for this advice. Have checked out the whole year calendar events. Heard from DS that some tests will commence next week! That's fast!

Caught the segment. It came on in latter half of the hour-long programme. CCHM certainly had a significant proportion of the airtime! DS was bristling with pride as he watched it.

An aside --- we are very impressed with the proactive school management, how well it is run and how comprehensive the curriculum isand the excellent communication channels with parents. This is a tightly run ship. It is a refreshing contrast from our prior experience, at another place.

                    Hello everyone,

Does anyone thinks CCHMS punishment is harsh? My dd is studying at cchms, told me that she saw and experienced many different types of punishment. Detention and teachers forcing students to copy large chunks of text or do reflection are very common . After exams debrief, teachers can force the whole level of students to stay back for one hour! :scared: :scared: :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

At flag-raising ceremony, there are just too many students rushing down, causing a massive jam at cramp walkways and staircases. As a result, the teachers have to block out the students who cant reach there on time. then the Discipline Master will punish them by asking them to do 20 squads and more while facing the morning sun. My dd said a male teacher even pulled her hair to stop her from joining her class, I am so shocked! :scared: How can a teacher do that to a student? especially he is a male?!   My dd always do things with a sense of urgency, but bc her classroom is very far from the parade square, the whole class always comes later than others, and the crowd jamming the staicases wont allow them to come down fast enough.

I personally feel that the school should not be punishing for no good reason. CCHMS is a generally a good school, they educate students on knowledge, they shouldn't make students suffer pain and humiliation in front of thousand of pupils. The DM always claims that he does not care if parents asked why is the school doing that, he claims they are EDUCATING the students to make them learn. Isn't that a bit too harsh?

                      Hi Victorica,

From your above, indeed you are extremely angry.

And after reading thru' your above, do have a couple of questions,

                      1) Did you check and understand from your DD on the reason why their teacher kept them back for an hour and what did your DD do during that one hour?

                      2) What is your worry or concern of some morning sun and 20 squads that the kids do? Injuries concern?

                      3) Pulling of hair is serious, not to mention by a teacher, did you lodge a complaint to the principle?

                      4) Your DD, knowing that her classroom is far away from the parade square and knowing that there will be jams at the stairways, with her sense of urgency, did she share with you what she plan to do to ensure that she can evade the jams and ensure that she will not be late?

                        1) According to my DD, she said the cohort was too noisy that the teachers have to hold them back for an hour. and there is nothing they can do, the have to sit there on the floor for an hour straight and listen the HOD scolding them. sometimes the HOD will call a few students up to say their opinions for 10 minutes straight and if she is not convinced she will embarrass the student even more, making life difficult for him or her in front of the cohort.

                        2) Do u know how hot and glaring is it to be directly in the morning sun? It wasnt just 20 squats, it turned out to be 30 and more because the DM made all of them redo claiming some people didnt count out loud. It is simply too much for most of them who are not frequently trained. even those who are in sports, they find it tirring. My dd has a friend who had been injured bc a CCA teacher made him do 150++ squats for being 15 min late. It had affected his kidneys and leg muscles, absent from school for two weeks bc he was admitted to the hospital. My dd, being injured once during this year’s NAPFA test, had to take pain killers again today bc her legs hurt so bad after doing the 30+ squats that morning.

                        3) I havent lodge a complaint. My dd didnt turn around to see which teacher did that, but it was definitely a male teacher. And I believe no teacher should ever do that to a student. It is violating Human Rights first and foremost. And I hope any teachers who are looking at this post now will reflect on their actions, pulling a girl’s hair is definitely not a right thing to do.

                        4) She plan to come down earlier this time. But she has a weak body, counldnt stand for too long for flagraising especially during Monday’s under 8.30am sun. She will get dizzy easily. there is really no solution, the school just blames it on the students, saying its their fault. the DM doesnt believes them when he asked where were they when the chime rings. Furthermore, he was sarcastic and forced them to do more saying this will wake them up and make their legs stronger so they can move faster. Lastly, forcing them to run right after the squats and disappear from the parade square withing 10 seconds. I am just very disapproved of the way he handles this matter. I believe being a good school, they can find alternative ways to handle this situation.
