All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

I have been looking at the Phase 2B vacancies / balloting of NYPS for the past 12 years......it is a rare thing to ballot the PV at 2B.....they have been quite good in gauging the demand and supply .... better than forecasting the number of cars deregistering .......lolz
I would class that as a blip in history, like the $50 COE. Good for those who got it, but those aspiring must not think it's the norm.HyperKiasu:
If i remember correctly, NYPS 2009 Phase 2B number of applicants is 45 and all 45 are enrolled successfully. that is fair as at least 80 hrs serves something like a guarantee.... -
Why still no reply from the school about interviews do PV? Aren’t they supposed to contact the applicants by now?

while school has control over the number of PVs, they have no control over the other eligible phase 2B applicants .... and in NYPS case, the grassroots ! -
80 hrs is too tough… especially for working parents…

has been done....so guess they will continue to stick with it. I know someone who went through this route...she has an extremely successful career. -

80 hours over 50 weeks is not that bad if that can get your kid into your desired school -
I think 120 hours of PV also people would do lah if the desire school is like super super hot cake.
-
wow, 120hrs, flip like the property market yah.....
duno whether it is the top school that are really top or the parents that make the school top....
-
HyperKiasu:
it is the combination of capable school admin, good and dedicated teachers, parents' support, and the motivated kids.wow, 120hrs, flip like the property market yah.....

some schools may require the PV hours spread over two years instead of one year .... so 80 hours or 120 hours (have not heard of, i suaku) over two years also no problem
