What made the forum crash, around 7.45 pm Wed last night ?

Now that you have obtained the Polyclinic referral letter, suppose one day your child need to go NUH again, but wish to pay subsidized rates,
can, provided call NUH, tell them to close The case first.

Then, after some time lapse (may ask NUH : minimum how long ? ) -
go NUH again, this time with that letter of referral, from Polyclinic.
Because your case had been closed & now re-opened a second time through a Polyclinic referral letter, then it become a fresh, new case again.

(Just to let you know : in case in future, the child need to go back to NUH one day, in the course of his growing up days.

Or in case one day kK hospital, for some tests, need child to go down to NUH site, because certain doctors with specialized skills are only available at NUH, not at KK hospital, just to illustrate an example. )

Only after close the case -
then NUH will re-set your status, from private consultation, to subsidized consultation, if can produce the referral letter the next time. Then, is treated as a fresh case.

Shadow Tr only allowed in P1 / P2 Mainstream primary schools,

Because P1 / P2 classes : only 30 kids per class, can still allow a Shadow Tr, to sit inside the classroom.

But once P3 come -
Students re-org, to 40+ kids, per class.
size of 40+ is too big.
Shadow Tr not allowed to sit inside P3 classroom anymore, from P3 onwards, until P6.

The costs of hiring one Shadow Tr : is around $ 2,000 per month, for P1 / P2.
Some charge $2.3 k to $2.5 k per month : depend on what kind of experience the Shadow Tr has.

for 1 year (P1)
costs of hiring a Shadow Tr = $ 2000 x 12 months = $ 24, 000 per year.

for 2 years (P1 + P2) hiring
costs approximately : $ 48,000


Not all children need to hire a Shadow Tr.
There are children who went through (P1 to P6) Mainstream, without the need to hire any Shadow Tr at all.
They just integrate into the Mainstream without issue : even school Tr can’t tell that they are autistic.

Only when the child need "1 to 1" personal attention, struggling in a class of 30 kids, then only will Form Tr in Mainstream schools recommend, by the end of P1 Term 1 : after observing how the child behave for one Term, in class.

Term 1 is a "honeymoon" period.
All holistic small byte sized assessments start from P1 Term 2 onwards, (not start from Term 1) until Term 4.
Thus if there is a need to hire a Shadow Tr, can start hiring from mid Term 1 or Term 2 onwards.

When to stop hiring Shadow Tr ?

Form Tr will give feedback to parents at Regular Check point progress meeting, during PTC (Parents Meet Tr Conference session : individually)
Some primary schools conduct PTC : once a year.
Other schools conduct PTC : twice a year.

Pathlight primary school state that -

They only have limited places, currently, there is a long, waiting list queue.

As such, Pathlight primary state that if vacancies arise -
Priority goes to educating Sg citizen children first, followed by PR, next, in this order.

Foreigner children : no chance
(Foreigner parents are asked to look for alternative, private autism schools, instead)


The same applies to Government Epic centre.
Government Epic centre said that as long as there is a queue or waiting list is already formed, & due to scarce, tight resources -
Priority goes to educating our Sg citizen children first, then PR, next.

Foreigners are asked to look for alternative, privately run Epic centre.

Tyeogh, yeah. This is what I worried. Too young to get conclusive diagnosis. I will wait until he is 3-4 yr old. 1000 + to get a proper diagnosis is worth it compare to 600 i paid for his hearing test at NUH. Yes. 600 for hearing test which i don't really need. I know he can hear well. He went for normal hearing test first. But he got cranky and bored after listening a few loud sound and did not get the toys he want. They distracted him with the toy while they produce the sound. So we can't continue. So have to go for the test with the sedation. For this need to see a specialist to prescribe the sedation. So in total it costs 600+.
As for attending preschool, my son is not disruptive to other. But he likes to walk around looking at the posters, or when he feel bored he will lie down on floor play with car ect. But not auto participate in the class activities. Someone needs to force him.

Couragemom, thanks. yes. I will try calling Gov EIPIC. Yeah. The school I visited also like that they mix different disabilities and different age group. Most of them are much older than my son. So unwilling to put my son together with them.

Eipic ARC when we apply if we do not have any formal dignosis of ASD.Is it ARC will conduct their own assessment to determine if they can enrol the child ? What other tests,assessment,reports are required?

I have no intention to diagnose my son as ASD yet if possible as it is permanent.

I not sure why must be formally dignose in order to get into an Eipic centre.Anyone know of any Eipic centre that do not require formal diagnosis?

My son just need help in behavioural classroom training.He is those high functioning ASD category if really dignose

My experience with ARC is that no diagnosis is needed. They have their own assessors to determine if your child is suitable. These assessors do not provide a ASD diagnosis. No other documents are needed.


EIPIC centres do not need a formal diagnosis for entry. You may have been misinformed. You only need a ASD diagnosis for Pathlight primary.

Thanks for sharing. I am unsure upon securing a vacancy in an Eipic centre would they demand for a psychologist report and formal ASD diagnosis.Currently, I was Informed as long as the child development unit do a referral to the SG Enable they will process the Eipic centre application as per what the doctor indicated with no formal ASD dignosis.

I don’t know why the doctors keep asking us to send the child for formal dignosis of ASD and IQ assessment test.

Do I need to have a formal ASD dignosis rest when applying for admission into Pathlight? Even for the P1 preparatory class also need to have the formal ASD diagnosis.

You need a ASD and IQ diagnosis with a certain validity period in your application to Pathlight Primary. See their website for details.

you need a formal assessment to assess if the child needs to or can be delayed from going to P1 for a year or two.


If no formal assessment, then the child has to start P1 in mainstream school in the year the child turns 7.

So no formal assessment needed before the child turns 6 years of age based on calendar year, and most EIPIC centre do not require any formal assessment.

All EIPIC centre has their own assessor or panel of assessors to determine the child’s suitability to be in that EIPIC centre for the particular program.
