My girl has CO from SST. However, I am still unsure what SST is. Is t the same as normal secondary school? Can she go to JC or must go to poly? Heard that it is applied science. What is it ? :?:

            Hi KPs,

Today at my DS’s Parent Teacher Meeting (he is in P5 and will sit for PSLE in 2015), his Science teacher asked us to try for SST for him as according to the teacher, he is very passionate about Science.

I really have not much idea about the school. Since morning, have been reading up on the school and like what i have seen so far.

About my DS, Maths and Science are his strongest subjects (he scores an average of A there), but his MT is his downfall. His CCA in school is choir, so no technology or science related CCA also.

What should we as parents do to help him get into the school, if this is what he wants to do.

I am not too concerned about what some said about SST being the poly route, sometimes, that may be the right way to go. Atleast learning from the others here will give me a better idea on how to help my DS.

Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

I like to seek for some advise. My son is in P6 now, I’m thinking of applying DSA for him this year. His CCA is Robotics, had been participating various competitions locally and overseas such as NJRC, Asia Pacific Vex etc and won some medals. He like to go SSA or NUSH but I’m not sure if can apply DSA via Robotics. I’ve seen ppl apply under music, sports…etc but never seen anybody talk about Robotics. Not sure if this is applicable. Appreciate if some parents or students can advise me on this. Thank you.

SST and NUSH do not take in students via robotics DSA. All students have to go thru the schools’ respective Dsa selection tests.

                      Hi fellow parents,

Like to find out more abt the GAT and CRT?
                      1. Are GAT and CRT separate papers or one combined paper?
                      2. What is the format of the two papers? Are they fill-in the blanks or mcq questions?
                      3. Where to find the sample papers online? Thanks!

                        Hi,

My son took the papers when he applied for SST 2 years ago. He is now Sec 2. GAT and CRT are 2 separate papers, both are MCQ. GAT is the general paper that is used for most DSA so if you take 1 paper and they will send the results to all the schools that you applied for DSA. The GAT paper is more like general paper testing logic. The CRT is more like language paper but logic based also. My son found the CRT paper tough but he made it. If i recall correctly, you get points deduction if you get a question wrong. CRT is only required by DSA for just a few schools.
