Some kids can do homework very quickly while others can take a longer time bcoz they're perfectionist. So time spent is not necessarily an accurate indicator.
I think accuracy within the time frame is more important than speed.

Honeymoon was over, school works and activities (CCA - Club) are getting more and more, needs to spend about 1 to 2 hrs to finish it at home daily, her right hand finger has started growing a callus 手指生茧 and getting thicker and thicker.

Can’t imagine 2019 PSLE? But tough tasks for parents! 😓

Hi, your dd school is giving too much homework. There is a recommended homework guideline recommended for primary school to follow. P2 should not have to do more than an hour homework daily. The P2s should have time for family bonding, leisure activities and rest.

        Hi

Her school gives them 20 pages (A4 size paper) of schoolwork – math yesterday (13/02/15), 2 questions on each page, total 40 questions, mainly problems sum (34) and a few Patterns (6).
Is it considered more or less? :?

That is a lot. When is she supposed to hand them in? If it is meant to be handed in a few days later, the teacher may mean to have them spread the work over a few days, in which case, it becomes a manageable daily chunk.

Sometimes it may be a new teacher who does not realize that some work is at discretion of the teacher. It happened with ds1 in P1 and I feedback that the homework was too much. Other parents gave similar feedback as well. The teacher later realized that 30 percent of the work was discretionary.

It MAY also be that some pages were missed out earlier and hence the work accumulated.

Chinese New Year is in week 7.

Is it because your dd school having Review Asessment Maths test paper on week 8, the week after CNY ?
If Yes, Tr give them work to do during CNY, to prepare them to familiarize themselves with similar qns coming out during Term 1 Maths test, after CNY ? Then is called preparation for mock test, not called homework

I would say v much still honeymoon time for my p2 kids in a SAP school till now…hardly any work, at most one page of chinese writing or maths say once a week. I dont keep track of their Tingxie and spelling schedule as well, since the words are still manageable, definitely none of those bombarstic words or chim chinese words outside of their syllabus…

Not sure if it is better to slowly step up the difficulty level and workload from now, or wait til p3/p4 when we will see a drastic change(shock)???

Even schools like Rosyth or Chongfu do not give out so much homework to their P2s… hoo1688, if you could feedback to the teacher to spread out the homework over a few weekdays, it helps to free up your girl’s free time on weekends for family bonding and leisure activities.

To me, any work that is assigned by teacher to be done at home is homework, regardless whether it is preparation for test or not.

                        True, all are homework.

But if homework to prepare mock test : there is a sense of urgency, in that quickly get it done, accurately, better to familiarize with the mock Test questions, because you know that these type of qn are going to come out in the Maths test.

But if is just normal, ordinary homework, can do at leisurely pace.
