Unfortunately it always seems like employers are at the losing end. We have to remember to protect ourselves with paperwork, agreements and all that stuff. I think usually when something is in writing and signed by the maid, they will not dare play punk (of course, there must be stories to the contrary).

True true. That's why I make my maid sign each time she take out money, and I retain the receipts - so far no issues.

The 1st line in my rules & regulations is \"Strictly no advance salary or take money from compulsory savings\".


Furthermore she worked for u for 5mth only. Anyway, only time can tell if she is trustworthy.

Usually, my maid remit $$ on her own. Cases like this (it's your $$), u can ask to see the receipt. See who she sent the $$ to.

And don't let her make it a habbit to \"oh, must send $$ home urgently\" after a phone call. Cos they know your weakness & will make it happen again. They r jus too good in lying.

If I were u, I will ask Spore agent to settle. They can bring or remit on your maid's behalf. Just pay a fee.

My maid worked for me for 5 months and she wanted to send money back urgently to her family after calling her hubby. She had asked me for advance pay and wanted to pass to her Philippine agent who will bring back the money to her country. Should i trust her?

Thks a lot! I didn’t know that the spore agent can help maid to remit $$$ to their country. Btw, im still trying to contact spore agent to inform them of this situation… Hope this type of situation is once and for all.

Do you guys knows what happen if agency don’t cancel the work permit even after you have paid the 21 days levy for your maid that was transferred out? Can employer go and cancel it themselves? I am aware some agency make you pay for the air-ticket for the maid if you cancel the work permit yourself.

As an employer you are entitled to cancel the WP of your FDW yourself, or you can check the status of the cancellation (by the agent) via this weblink : http://www.mom.gov.sg/publish/momportal/en/communities/work_pass/foreign_domestic_workers/e-services_and_forms/WP_Online_for_Employers_of_Foreign_Domestic_Workers.html

All you would need is a Singpass and the FDW's work permit number. Once you log in using your Singpass, look on the left hand column for what you wish to do.

Really fuming mad with my maid this time.

As usual, i took out kids’ school uniform for tomorrow.
Realized that she burnt my DD’s school tie, and she did not tell me earlier in the day! :x
My DS track pants got weird linear marks on it cos she used too high heat.
Why can’t she have told me earlier!
Luckily the tie was not for important occasion, but usual prefect duty.

Sigh, eversince this maid came, my parquet flooring got so many scratches, my dvd, starhb set up box all in haphazard position after she cleans them, my alarm clock rings as she turned it on after cleaning it. Worst of all is that she rearranges my stuff when she cleans them!

Its gonna be about the missing angpow and the soapy water my dd found in her rinsing mug. Ive kept the water in a container. I really dont like to go thru all this hasstle but my mum is still moaning abt the missing angpow and still hoping that d maid will take it out. My 2nd maid is approved and shes still in my house till next week.
Iwill tell the cops that money was missing during her employment with us and this has never happened b4. I do hope that I can get a copy of the report to bring to MOM after that. My mum is positive about the missing angpow and the coins in the drawer.
What do u think, should I proceed ? I dont know whether the cops will cal her out for questioning as she will not be in the 4th house and name transfered.

I would have loved to cancel my maids w/p and happily pay her airfare back but problem is if I do tht Im liable to pay the maids loan as per the agents contract.
