Hi, sharing here that Algebra method is allowed to be used during PSLE Math Paper 2. Is Algebra method really better than model method? I prefer model method. Wonder what’s your preference?

I think there is no so called \"better\" method, and it really depends on the type of question rather. Sometimes using model method would be faster as it is easier for the kid to \"picture\" the solution. My take is if the kid is trained in both methods, just use whichever he/she feels more comfortable with and less cumbersome in order to save time. Afterall time is of importance in an examination. But for myself I am still more inclined towards algebra method, afterall our generation was taught / grew up with the algebra method. 😆

I do not find any method is better. Teaching the child algebra method is just giving the child another method to solve the maths problem sums. Some schools may discourage the use of algebra method in school but PSLE accepts it.

I remember when my dd was in P6 a few years ago, the Maths HOD's dd was in her class. The Maths HOD told me that she taught her dd the algebra method personally though it was not in the Maths syllabus. It was too late for me to teach my dd then as she was already in P6. I intend to teach my P4 ds the algebra method this year.

            for Psle Maths -
If the question (qn) specifically state that only use Model method to solve this qn, then No choice.

Otherwise, if qn never specify use what method, then students can use Any method to solve, as long as show all working properly, with explanation.

              For Sports DSA -

the coach will arrange a day, request to see how your son / daughter play that particular Sports. Good or no good : the coach can tell

The coach in that Secondary school that your child wish to DSA into -
will also contact the Cca coach in your daughter's primary school, obtain feedback about her.
              \"Coach to coach\" feedback communication

heard that those China coach that train kids up to represent school team, are tough & strict in discipline.
As parents, they will want to try the DSA route for the children. But there is another side of the untold story of DSA.

If the child is admitted successfully through DSA into the preferred secondary school, the child has to work very hard to maintain standard in the studies as well as the DSA component that the child has applied for. If underperformed, the child is asked to leave the school. This is really embarrassing and damaging to child's self-esteem. So think carefully before DSA. I'm sharing real life accounts.

                      Hi

Curious to know what is the format for compo writing at P2? I understand by psle the compo format will comprise of 3 different pictures and the student must write a story to include at least one of the picture. Are the schools modifying the lower primary’s writing in view of the change? Or it’s still 4 pictures description! Any idea? Thanks!

                        P2 : still 4 picture

P3 : start to introduce 3 unrelated pic together, try to write a theme out of it
