Would you or any other parent here be able to tell us what the average psle score is like in sota? I know they said to qualify for express stream but I keep hearing that many enter sota with very high t-scores. Just wondering if that is true.

In my opinion, I think the median is about 23X, because the students’ results span from 20X to 26X.

Sotamama, that’s what I heard too. Am not that familiar with the IB route so was wondering if just getting 200ish would make the IB route too difficult for the child to cope.

Would you happen to know the diff between IB and say normal O level track I terms of workload etc? In your opinion, would a child who goes in with ave score of 230 find it hard to cope?

Dear Shinobi, I feel that for a child with 20x, it is not easy for both IB and O level route, especially in the first half year. Both required a lot of hard work. For a child with 23x, I think it’s not a problem for him/her.


As for workload, SOTA’s first 2 years are very manageable. After that work will be getting more demanding. I think mainstream will have more workload in terms of quantity.

Sotamama, thanks for your sharing. Now that my dd is determine to DSA to SOTA, I am starting to worry about whether she will be able to cope with the demands of the IB curriculum.


Heartening to know that the first 2 years are manageable so far…should give them time to adjust to the pace and curriculum.

Hi Shinobi, that was one of my concerns too. But I guess my daughter is compensated by satisfaction in her Art form subject which is something she can't achieve in enrichment classes outside. There is always a trade off in everything so we are prepared to give n take

I'm sad to say i have no idea if my dd does her homework in school. But she does homework at home occasionally, and the load is much lesser than in P6 :imcool: that's why i say it seems \"manageable\" to me lol

Can someone advise what is SOTA JA about (Junior Arts Academy)? There are 2 days workshop in Mar during the school holidays but heard application only via school recommendation. What is the program like for these 2 days and will it be 2 full days??

Eatnonstop, try calling SOTA or ask your child’s school about it. They should have the info. My child went for the dance junior academy and it is different - 8 weeks(if I counted correctly) of about 3 hrs each session.
