      Hi,

You can do without the maid since your kids are in a full day childcare. I have a maid too but sent her back because she did not do what we have instructed her to do while we are at work and my gal is in childcare. Instead, she kept calling back to indonesia, incurring a lot of my phone bill.

Initially, we felt very stressed because we have not maid suddenly but after a while you get used to it and will be able to cope as per normal.

      I
am a working mum with 2 kids, 18mths and 3-1/2yrs. I am thinking of releasing my maid early due to her attitudes, though she had worked with me for 3yr. But I am worried about how to cope without her.

My 2kids are now in full-day care. But my hubby always work late so he is hardly at home to help.

how i wish i could join the ranks of the maidless moms!!!

i'm FTWM and i have a maid at home.....mainly to cook and clean. both children are in full-day CC, and i don't encourage maid to take care of the kids....i do it myself....mostly!

however, as i stay with in-laws, they feel that they DO need a maid to take care of them....so no choice lor....actually, the house is cleaner whenever the maid is on her \"home leave\"...but what to do? my MIL doesn't cook.....so no choice!

tingkat is out of question, cos we already eat out every weekend! 😞

        sigh.......

          Hi all,

We just bought the iRoomba model 520.
I have a question for those who are also using iRoomba.

Basically, after the iRoomba is fully recharged, do you switch off the mains, or still leave the mains on ?

If we leave the mains on, will it waste electricity ?

The manual says to leave it on… but we are thinking of saving electricity…

I’ve been without maid for over 5 months, yeah!!!!! I know it sounds nicer to announce when at least hit the 6 months or half year period, but heck..who cares if there’s two weeks more to go? If I can survive my past months without one, what’s that 2 weeks, eh? Gosh, it wasn’t tough at all without a maid (considered that I grew up with maids attending to me). Life without a maid is so so much better! It’s all about time management for me and my home is so much cleaner and tidier now. I don’t need to check if my kitchen, bedrooms, floor, bathrooms are clean because I cleaned them and they remained clean. Previously, I wasted a lot of my time by cleaning after the maid.

My expenditures for my household decreased without a maid. Grocery bills gone down so much. Quantity of food has gone down so so much. Back then, a week supply of food ($300) for me, kid and maid lasted for 4 to 5 days. Now, it's less than $100 a week. My kid and I are on organic foodies. With maid then, no organic..cannot 'tahan' the cost. I’m using quality products for my household cleaning, and yet still saving so much on my monthly bills. Yiiipiii!!! And best of all, I don’t need to wake up having to face a black horsey face to begin my day.

I can’t imagine having a stranger in my home again. Thanks Lord for the blessing for the past months and will continue my days without a maid
            😄

              Hi all,

I really enjoy to read this thread. After a year without maid, every night when my kids sleep (2 boys, still in kindergarten), I feel so tired..

So now I am thinking I want to invest on some gadgets to make all the housework easier for me to handle. Next year my DS1is going to P1, so I want to spare more time to guide and play with him..

Hiring a maid again is not my option, as my first and only maid ever gave me too much problems after working for almost 5 years. She used our home to prostitute herself when we were away..

Can anyone recommend me which brand and model to buy on this few items:
              1. Washing machine
(preferably front loader type, and can choose to wash with less water when the machine is not fully load e.g. when I am washing the toilet matt, etc)

              2. Cloth dryer
(preferably one that doesn't cause much wrinkles on the clothes so I don't need to iron them)

              3. Steam vacum
I know Karcher has a good one. But which model to buy? Can it be used to clean the window, aircon, mop the floor?

              4. Robotic Vacuum aka Roomba
What model to buy? Can it really save us from sweeping the floor? Will it last for many years if I get one? I am really interested on this..

              5. Dish Washer
What brand and model to buy? I never used one but keen to get one. Some friends said it is not so useful, coz wasted a lot of water and we need to wait until it is full to run it. Is it true?

Please give me any reviews or comments if you use any gadgets above. :?: Thanks a lot ya... 😄

Hi mocharita, Very proud to announce that I’ve been without maid for over 8 months! I've maid for 10 years since I have my 1st child. 1st maid was with me for 2 years and another maid was 8 years. As a SAHM for 2 girls, I've to face my maid 24hrs.

The 1st 3 month w/o a maid was really hard to deal with, I was very tempted to hire a part timer to help...and my new home is smaller and there is no spare room for a fulltime maid. Today, I enjoy my life without a maid and am happy to share that I did it  it is a matter of getting used to life without a maid. :celebrate:

Congrats to you! Initially I was very tired without a maid because I was cleaning the mess she left behind. After 2 weeks of thorough cleaning, I was feeling superb. I hired a part timer but it didn’t turn out well. It lasted an hour because she’s very ‘environmental friendly’ type, she used the same pail of water from cleaning the kitchen floor for wiping my furniture and bedframes. :!:

Maid wants to leave in May half a year before her contract ends..thinking whether I should still get a new one.

After having maids for so many years, would I be able to cope? 😢
