Dropping 'O' level subjects

Ds plans to drop two combined humanities subjects for 'O' levels. Can anyone advise if producing an MC would be acceptable and will the results slip show a dash or \"U\"? And how would this affect him in the future? Is it a good strategy to channel one's effort towards subjects that they are more confident in? I am against the idea but he stands very firm by his decision. Appreciate if someone could share. Thank you.
MC not required. Just don't turn up and it will be ungraded.
Assuming that the 'dropped' subjects is not going to affect his subsequent entry to JC/Poly, i.e. not a core requirement for his intended course of study, it doesn't matter in the short or long run.
Your kid is just playing it smart. It's better to score 6 A1 than 10 A2. -
Depends on whether the subject would be needed for requirements in the subject combinations in JC.

Suggest that u refer to your ideal JC's subject combination offered. That JC, that u have in mind to go to. Over there, they will tell u what are the pre-requistes (if any) for that subject. If dont have, then no need to worry lah

The purpose of wanting kids to take up subjects from different disciplines is to instill a broad-based education from young so that they can appreciate the world from multiple perspectives, humanities, sciences and languages etc. However, for the purpose of examinations, you can be exam-smart and streamline the effectiveness of your revision by channeling more time for those subjects that you can perform better. Afterall, every student has limited time before the exam date. However, exams aside, it’s good to expose our kids to multiple disciplinaries so that they are able to engage in interesting conversations with others in future.

Which Arts subject? Does he have other Humanities subject? Please provide more information before we can advise.
