      Miracle Child:
      Hi,

Were there any important notices for the last two days (24 and 25 Mar)? My son was sick and absent on these two days. Thanks.
Hi Miracle Child, hope your son is feeling much better now. Must be the bad weather.

The 1Fers were given a few letters - Show & Tell Date around mid April. FT attached this letter in the buddy. Chinese han yu pin yin listening test or listening compre test. Olympic games for all P1 (have to sign consent form to allow participation) on 1/4. Go to school in PE attire with water bottle. This is like a games/sports day for all P1 to be held in the school hall. Then have to write a cheque for $142.95 to pay for a list of things like e-portal, class photos, sch mag etc etc. There is a form to sign up for some mag subscription which we didn't take up.

Not much homework these few days.

Anyone else has anything to add? Hope I didn't miss out any.

The chq should amount should $82.45. Balance of $60.50 should be deducted fm Edusave (provided there’s sufficient balance in Edusave account)

        Regards,

        VVJJ

            http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/Story/STIStory_506220.html

I find this parent very selfish and unreasonable. What do you think?

I'm new to forums so pardon me if i'm not doing things the right way 😄

My son is in 1D and he is having problems coping with Mandarin. We don't speak enough at home and so his foundation is weak. The homework given by lao shi is also quite a lot - 2 x hao peng you with about 6 pgs of work to me done per week and ad hoc writing sheets as well. On top of that, there is ting xie to be learnt and regular tests to sit for.

We have tuition for him in this subject and the experienced retired lao shi says the school standard is too high for his level. On HYPY, he was given nearly 40 pgs of vocab to learn. We are truly struggling.

                How are your boys doing?

Was your son exposed to Mandarin during his presch days?
MSH comes with Higher Chinese, thus emphasis for Mandarin is there.
Maybe speak to ur son's current school teacher for feedback.
Get ur son to read his textbook daily.
This will help him in long term.
Do not just focus on writing, else he may hate the subject soon.
On the other hand, you may wanna expose him in some Chinese Enrichment classes to maintain his interest in the subject.

Anyone’s kids taking BADMINTON or WUSHU as CCA?

My son is having keen interest in both.
As such, like to know how’s the training for both is?
How soon do they select the kids to be under school team training?

                      Hi Honey, Valsboy, Miracle Child,

Did your son receive the badminton selection form yesterday? I understand badminton is via selection process and I know other classes selected boys have rec’d it.

                      Regards,

                      VVJJ
