      hi bsk,

i am getting daughter to do a page of English Daily Dose everyday…her weakness is in comprehension…but to do comprehension everyday would be painful. synthesis questions are 2 marks each…either she knows or not and depending on how careful she is. comprehension is a ‘big ticket’ section. to me, daily interaction with languages is crucial.

        Hi Janet88

Could you help share or advise the daily/weekly timetable with your DD?? I am wondering how to manage 4 -5 subjects (Maths/Science/English/Chinese/HCL) revision coverage on top of her school and tuition normal homework…I have been trying but I cant seem to be able to slot in time for my DD on English (especially comprehension) and Science…she has been spending most of her time to school projects/math/HCL…

I get daughter to do English, math and science on a daily basis. she has tuition homework as well as school homework. so my work for her has to be flexible. her tuition sessions are over the weekend...so weekends are kind of burnt 🤷 Friday nights to complete school homework, sat nights are for completing math tuition homework (math tuition on sat mornings). English tuition on sunday mornings (English tuition homework to be done later that day.

              hi EatNonStop,

I used to plan weekly schedules but it is difficult to stay on track as she goes upper primary. so now I have to micro-manage on a daily scale.
make the schedule flexible in case the teacher decides to give more homework than the usual, especially over a long weekend.

                Hi everyone!

Do we still have PSLE Tscores next year?

If no, how will the secondary schools be allocated?

Thanks in advance for the enlightenment!

                :thankyou:

MOE has commented some time back to go away with PSLE Tscore system and to replace with banding instead (A, B etc)...yet to hear more details from MOE. I doubt the new system will implement by next year.

Very tough for working mothers to micro manage their time table. 😞

my daughter's time table is very flexible...but she has to cooperate with me. my 'standard' daily work for her is English, math and science.
if her school hw is really heavy that day, I will put mine aside.

Yes, I do agree and find that the jump this year, from p4 - 5 is huge. Both in terms of work load and subject difficulty.

My son too,did rather badly for CA1. He's not going for any tuition at the moment - he loved his leisure time and we also believe in a balanced approach, with play an important part of childhood. However, I have told him, if he cannot get back to the groove and to his previous standard (or closer to) by SA1, we might have to start him on some tuition already.

At p5, the mummy (aka me) is waking up and becoming kiasu 😓
