          My girl in K1, very weak in phonics and can’t really read. She learnt via rote learning in her childcare. I will be letting her go to Indigo centre this sat as my nephew and niece are having their tuition there. They just launched their junior programme using poems to teach.

          Finger crossed my girl will find it interesting.

            I've tried ICR for awhile, but did not see any improvement, felt so wasted, money down the drain, so stopped for a period of time 😞

            Felt that dd is ready to start again and was not sure which program would be suitable for her, but heard of a freelance tutor who specializes in phonics and decided to try her out as her rates were pretty reasonable and the best part...she comes right up to my doorstep! Hehe. For a reasonable rate and 1-to-1 service, I thought, why not? I'm paid more for ICR anyway.

            Honestly, I was initially skeptical about the effectiveness of the program as well. I mean at $50/1.5hr session for 1-to-1 home class, what can I expect right? (I do know of others who charge up to $150 per session D:) But I was surprised when I met the teacher for the first time, she was young and bubbly and was very enthusiastic in her teaching, dd enjoys her sessions very much and she is also creative in her teaching methods. She makes use of lots of games and interactive tools instead of solely paper and pencil which can sometimes get very boring for young children.

            Have seen so much improvement as compared to ICR, better service and better price haha... So mummies, expensive does not mean it is always good...

            Anyway, good things must share! So pleased with dd's progress and hope to help you too! Pm me for her contact details if interested! She also offers creative writing sessions at a slightly cheaper rate, but dd is still too young for that, will try it out in the future when she is old enough hehe...

            Hi Lovellyjoy,
            able to pm me the tutor contact details? Thanks

              Are you serious? I know of a China mum who is illiterate and sends her little China boy to ICR. If the child and the English-illiterate mum can pick up, i don't see why local parents cannot catch what ICR is teaching their children. If these parents are not spending time to revise what was taught in class, no matter what enrichment, the child won't improve if given the best teachers.

                Repost- I am still hoping to form a class for the kids. Most classes had started and they do not accept new children who need to start for the beginner stage.

                {My son is in K1 and his phonics is weak. I have a contract of a Phonics teacher that live in Tampines. However, she need around 4 children to start a class. Her results is proven there are children under her program has no problem with their English and Spelling in Pri Sch. Her sch fees is definitely cheaper than the enrichment schools.

                If your child is in K1 or N2 and you are looking for an effective phonics teacher and does not mind traveling to the east, please give me a call or text me at 94502030 or email me at [email protected]}

                        anyone know if any enrichment school work like mindchamps, that they will access the kid and group them accordingly to their abilities level rather than their age group?
