All About Home Addresses

Hi lee_yl ,
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I do agree that this is a big loophole. Initially, I heard that have to stay minimum 2 years in the registered address in order to enrol.
We bought the property and shifted coz we wanted to enrol my gal in the school of our choice this year. But I happened to find out that her classmate (mum is keen to enrol in the same school as us), rented a place near the school last year.
Hi Beemom,
Under MOE's rule, it is considered legal as long as the whole family is staying in the rented property by 1st July for the year of P1 reg. At least the whole family bothered to make an effort to shift there and has been staying in that rented property since last year.
I don't believe in buying a property for the purpose of enrolling the child for primary school of choice, perhaps, rental would be a better choice. There are risks unless one can be very assured of getting a place even if balloting takes place. All the best for your coming P1 registration. -
Hi all,
I am new here.
The arrangement for my daughter is like this: She stays at my mother-in-law’s house in Bukit Purmei during the day and we will be fetching her home in the West after work in the evening. Our IC’s address is the one in the West.
When I do P1 registration, can I use the address of my mother-in-law? Eventually, we are trying to save to either rent or buy a property in Bukit Purmei, especially if my daughter gets in the desired school.
Thanks in advance for your reply -
Hi,
A good friend just brought this to my attention. Wondering if that would be a problem
we are currently living in Tampines with our parents, we have recently (1 month ago) gotten keys to our new home in Punggol.
We are however not planning to move until 1-2 years later. Does it mean that this year, when my daughter is due to register for Primary school, I can and should be applying for Tampines right?
please advise as I really dont know what i should do or whom i should ask to clarify this matter -

If you are still living in Tampines and that's reflected in your NRIC, that's the address you will register under. To confirm, call MOE.Hi,

Thank you sir, that's what i thought too. But i got abit jittery when my friend told me that upon collection of keys, Gov will push you to change ur IC to the new home address, and it happened to her and her brother.

I thought this sounded quite bull, as it is ridiculous to change the IC address to somewhere else when you are still living at the old address. -
Hi all,
i would like to ask if my house it’s only one block away within 1km. Can i appeal to register in 2C instead of 2CS?
Thanks! -

I think you have misunderstood the phases and their criteria.Hi all,

Please read through the information in http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/phases/. -
I have an existing property which I rented out currently. Can I still use this address to apply as its within 1km of the school Or do I need to move back to qualify?

legally you are not allowed to use this address even though it belongs to you.
