She should learn how to win people’s heart instead.

My daughter knows her and her friends. They all think she’s blowing things out of proportion.

        Why I left RGS

LIKE Ms Cheryl Tan, I left Raffles Girls' School for psychological reasons (\"Former RGS student claims she was bullied, sues school\"; Thursday).

My parents were kind enough to send me overseas to continue my studies after I suffered depression as a direct result of the treatment I received at RGS. Many people have said that Ms Tan is making a mountain out of a molehill and that the bullying she experienced was nothing more than \"CCA (co-curricular activity) drama\". I, too, experienced such drama.

When a group of your seniors impersonates someone else on social media in order to get you to confide your secrets to them, sends you an e-mail claiming that you didn't get into a certain CCA, and encourages ostracism against you from your own peers, you are placed in such a position that \"drama\" no longer sufficiently describes the level of anguish and mental suffering experienced. I, too, was an active member of the RGS community. I roared out the Rafflesian cheers, I participated in the gruelling leadership camps and interviews, and I did well academically. Yet, my self-esteem was beaten down by the system.

Ms Tan has set a precedent, but she has made herself heard, that bullying does happen in schools in Singapore and should not be taken lightly.

To be fair to the school, such occurrences are not confined to Singapore, let alone this school. And just because one party is more vocal doesn’t necessarily make the other party guilty. Nonetheless, it’s sad to hear of such things happening to anyone anywhere.

My DD is in Y2 this year and we have no regrets choosing this school.

People don’t sue another party for no reason. Need strong financial resources.

The parents should jolly know well that one of the judges is ex-rgs girl. They should also know very well that such case is not favourable to them.
There must be a reason why they took this painful route in suing instead of settling out of court.

There is no O level class. Octoberbaby is referring to O level PAPERS that the students take ie HCL and 3rd lang.

I sincerely hope that parents of RGS will not divulge the information the school had shared with the students relating to the bullying case. Worse still if the comments posted are misinterpreted. Please give the school a break. It has already attracted too much unwanted attention. Let the court decide who’s right and who’s wrong.
