I agree with muska that Pcps teaches very little on compo and expect a lot. Not many compositions to write in a semester. The most 5 before SA1. My P4 child had 3 so far. The good and the bad differs a lot, took home some by accident. The normal ones for English get around 12 or 13 and the better ones at 14.5-17. It is so difficult to score as compos are subjective and we don’t get to see their mistakes during exams. However, I do remember their work will be marked by 2 teachers. Don’t know if this still stands. Anyway, just have to get our children do better for the rest of the papers…

i also don’t quite like when the teacher ask pupils to do their essays at home, especially for Chinese. I know we shouldn’t , but as parents we tend to want to help to correct them as we couldn’t bear to see them submitting badly "written" essays. :1

I have feedback to the teacher that it is better for pupils to write in class, as under pressure i feel they will put in more effort , and it is better for teacher/parents to know the standard of the children. The teacher replied they have much to cover and may not have time for that.

Hi all, I am thinking of setting up a Facebook group so that we can upload the kids Sch works when the parents do not know to do too, esp Math.

We can upload the solution by just taking a photo and upload it.

          any views ?

For parents intending to send their children for wushu 三段刀 enrichment, I have one for sale. Please contact me if interested. Bought from the teacher previously, still in good condition.

sorry can I check if anyone of u stay at punggol or sengkang and fetch kids up and down to the school?

I have to track back the 200+ message and is very tiring… lolz.
I would like to know the school bus timing and did anyone engage premier school bus?

Sorry, I have to standby for my child to will turn 6 in another 2 year.
My Hub is alumni so my girl will go in the early phrase.
But if I decide not to place her there since the distance is a problem for us, we are thinking of placing her to MEE TOH (MY eldest son-ex primary school)…

We have to brainstorm either to move house to central which the school bus can travel shorter distance or i have to drive her …

Anyone with compo marking to share on SA1? I heard marked by other teachers instead of own.

for p3, i know chinese compo definitely mark by own teacher.

                      I think english too.

                      For upper pri, not sure.

I think teachers in general are quite standard in their marking…do you expect a lot of difference?

                        Hello parents,

                        Perhaps this might shed light.

                        Regardless of level,

The compositions are marked by their own class teacher as well as a "second" marker from another class of the same level. This is to maintain the "fairness" and standardisation of the marking. This eliminates any bias in the marking.

                        Call it quality control.

Before that, the teachers will go through one round of standardisation marking together as a level. Meaning, the teachers will come together to mark random scripts of different quality from different classes to do bench marking, before arriving at an acceptable band for both content and language.

All in all, the teachers would have marked about 100 scripts over a period of 3 weeks. (bench marking scripts, class scripts, "2nd marking" scripts)

So please do show your appreciation during PTM to the teachers this coming end May, because I know I will.

                        :B
