I am looking at the Maybank pdt but still thinking bec of the min 30k, noting it is not a plain FD

Yes, and it is 5 years long.

Use your extra money
5 yrs is not short , but confirm interest paid so no need to renew yearly .effective interest is 2.3% upon mature.

OCBC 360 Acct not bad too but limit at 60k for high interest
I don't think \"confirm interest paid\" . It can be less than 1% or even none. My understanding of the terms only principal is guaranteed . That is why i asked about minimum and maximum as stated in the ads.
With ref to the Maybank Structured deposit , I wonder if there is a deliberate mistake.

In the papers ,it is saying

Minimum effective interest rate is 2.3073% p.a.3

In the Maybank webpage, it is saying

Maximum effective interest rate is 2.3073% p.a.3

I took it in stride since Min = Max as the annual rates are fixed with no variable component.

yep correct. min u get 2.3% int rate ,max u can get is also 2.3% -no more no less, Must keep the capital/deposit for 5 hard yrs with the bank.
Sorry , perhaps i am not familiar to the financial terms. The mentioned structured deposit only mentioned 100% principal guaranteed , hence you may not get any returns/gain at all after maturity. Hence i feel it is kind of misleading by saying \"minimum\" effective interest rate.

i also don’t quite like when the teacher ask pupils to do their essays at home, especially for Chinese. I know we shouldn’t , but as parents we tend to want to help to correct them as we couldn’t bear to see them submitting badly "written" essays. :1

I have feedback to the teacher that it is better for pupils to write in class, as under pressure i feel they will put in more effort , and it is better for teacher/parents to know the standard of the children. The teacher replied they have much to cover and may not have time for that.

• RE: Q&A - P3 Math

Mathagog:
ssky2307:

Hi all

anyone has the solution to this?

Tricia gave 5 sweets to each of her friends and had 3 left. If Tricia had given 6 sweets each, she would be short of 4. How many sweets does Tricia have?

Algebraic solution is not accepted as this is a P3 question 😞

Detailed answer:

http://i58.tinypic.com/au9x1z.jpg\">

If Tricia were to give 5 sweets each:
Total sweets Tricia has actually = some groups of 5 sweets + 3 sweets
First model diagram shows this.

If Tricia were to give 6 sweets each:
Total sweets Tricia has actually = some groups of 6 sweets – 4 sweets
Second model diagram shows this. Note that the 4 sweets less Tricia actually has if she wants to give each friend 6 sweets is shown with the red coloured box at the right end.

We can re-arrange the 6 sweets into groups of 5+1 sweets as shown in the third model.
1 sweet from each friend if moved to the end of the bar diagram should make up (3+4=7) sweets.

Therefore Tricia has 7 friends
Total sweets Tricia has = 7 groups of 5 + 3 = 7 x 5 + 3 = 38

Hope you can help explain to your child!

I find it hard to explain this in model to my child, but i don't think the teacher can mark the child wrong, if the child do in an \"algebraic\" method.

• RE: Travel: Indonesia - Bandung

Possible to share your itinerary? I have very limited knowledge on Bandung. Still doing research... Thks in advance...
I signed up a 3D2N package + 2N extension (misatravel).
D1 we arrived evening and D5 we left morning.
Our hotel is Luxton Hotel along Jalan Dago, but not walking distance to the factory outlets. The package include a day tour to Tengkuban Perahu , Ciator Hot Spring , and some factory outlets.

The 3rd day we rented a car from http://www.muliarental.com/ , to visit kawah Putih - beautiful crator lake
strawberry farm - not \"professionally\" run but the kids still enjoy the picking process
A deer farm (within a resort) - the resort is very run down with only a few deers. Not so worth it. Walked around Masjid Agung Mosque area (Bandung city) .
The rest of the day we went to more factory outlets and kartikasari (famous for their brownies and cookies).

4th day, we spent the whole day at Bandung Transtudio. We went there by bluebird taxi. The kids enjoy most here. Indoor Theme Park with lots of rides. There is also mini science center here.

On our flight back, we met a singaporean family who went horseriding. You can check up this link

• Maths Question for discussion

http://i48.tinypic.com/2dt0hfc.jpg\">

Attached a school marking gudeline.

I personally feel Pupil B deserve the working marks. The vertical working shows that the child has understood how to solve the question , and i see it the same as the number statement.

it should be also acceptable if the vertical working is shown just above the number statement.

Though i would still encourage my child to follow the guideline, strictly penalising a pupil for this might demoralise the young child.

It would be good if someone in your group can speak Malay , as not many people here can speak English well.
