      Thanks tree nymph.

Think those from popular are mainly for name and it's not cheap... $10 a book.
      Hi!

the software is 汉神-豪华版. its retailing for $299, then you can print any words you want in outline and i think in several fonts too. there's a student version, but that one you can't print out. Both sofeware will be able to show/demo how the chinese characters should be writted. i'm deciding if i should get the deluxe or the student version.. actually still thinking if i should invest in this or not...

My FIL mentioned something like S$100+ … I did not see the bill so it may be a bit understated?

According to the review here, it is S$399.

I understand there is option of VCD or DVD, the latter being more expensive.

Han Zi Gong 汉字宫 is more for older children & personally find it is not the most interesting VCD/ DVD for learning Chinese character.

              Check out the clips here:

Found these other animated programs give better illustrations of evolution of chinese characters.

                  Dear all parents,

Besides teaching kids to read, it is also important to find good books that will teach them the correct moral values.

Personally, I think that the most important value is
                  孝

Most children's books teach kids that parents love them unconditionally. But I think that we must teach kids how they can love us.

Take a look at these excellent books that I found about 二十四孝 :

Thanks for all the feedback on getting books or software on word evolution.

I am also looking for good books to teach hanyu pingyin. If anyone come across such books, please kindly post here to share.

My son is weak in hanyu pinyin. He can read accurately most of the time, but somehow when he has to write it down, he gets it all wrong :stupid: I don't know why is he like that. Any advise?

                      Many thanks in advance.

                        Hi Mummies,

                        I’m new here.

My DD is 5 this year. I’ve just started her on Si Wu Kuai Du book 1, now at lesson 6.

I was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations on what chinese story books i can buy to help complement the teaching in Si Wu Kuai Du?

For English phonics, I use the Peter and Jane series. I’m just wondering if there’s an equivalent of Peter and Jane in Chinese, so that I can progress as I go along to more difficult words.

I’m looking for story books that would help reinforce the words she has already learned, so she won’t forget them. I wonder if this should be the case? I’ve bought quite a number of chinese story books from dangdang.com, but i find that its still a little difficult for her, as there will be words that are too difficult for her, so i’ve not started her on those books yet.

Also, I’ve heard rave reviews about berries. Is it too late to start her, now that she is in K1? How should I guage if I should send her to chinese enrichment classes? She’s constantly in a chinese speaking environment. Her spoken chinese is much better than her English. She also enjoys her chinese classes in her kindergarten.
