For instance, chase SJI out to Mt Sinai and conquer Bishan ITE? :rotflmao: :siam:

With the tightening of foreign workers quota and all the major transportation infrastructural projects underway, I am sure with all these resource constraints and delays, even by end-2019, the new JC will not be ready.
If we start off on the wrong foot, we may never regain the momentum to enter the ranks of top JCs. I remember Hwa Chong moving to Bukit Batok for a couple of years and eligible students with good results would shun Hwa Chong to go other JCs which led to HC's results going downhill for a good number of years.
The new JC does not even have a track record and will face an uphill task in attracting top students.
Good points! Esp on foreign labour quota.
Mt Sinai ' s fengshui is very good la.
But the quality of the intake has a big part to play also.

Kind of extreme but I guess I should live and let live. Lol!
All these chatter carry little weight as not every comment is by stakeholders. Every one's just chipping in a suggestion or two to help alleviate the angst n frustration felt by affected stakeholders.
My advice is go to mainstream media forum rather than online forum because they have no protocol to respond to you here but they are bound by duty/ have an obligation to answer to complainants in MSM forum. *wink* -
Another way is for those parents / pupils staying in extreme North area badly affected by distance & time travelling, perhaps can consider rent out their current houses (eg : Yishun / Khatib/ Woodlands flat), & in turn rent another flat at Ghim Moh, temporarily for 2 years, until the child finish his / Her "A" level, in 2018.
Behind RJC are HDB flats of Block 1, 2, 3, 4 (Ghim Moh estate) etc
Block 1 is directly behind small side gate 3 exit, of RJC campus.
This way, no need to take any bus. Just take the lift down, is the school, if for eg : Rent an apartment at Block 1 HDB flat, for 2 years.
Those staying in the east, may also consider do likewise -

My sympathies then. Sorry but why you said \"I understand\"? Weren't you there at the talk(s)?woodgrove:
Easy said than done! Moe has not offered any other alternative so far other than mount Sinai - I understand parents have come forth with alternatives. We can't stop the frustration affected parents are feeling -- moe should address the issue quickly.
Will you trust your contractor again if the contractor communicates a date for the building of your house but time and again delayed it?
I understand parents had asked repeatedly when the new building would be ready before this after it had been delayed before. Now the double whammy of the further delay plus change in holding site. Not only parents but the students are disappointed too according to report in Lianhe Zaobao.
But 大局已定 (can't change building schedule), what do you want MOE/URA to do? Open up their property listing to let all parents vote for a venue?
Since you created this thread, why not list down here those alternatives you understood from other parents?
Thereafter, follow up with another email to ST Forum, Zaobao Yanlun, Today Voices.
Trust me, only then will they scramble to reply to your concerns. Chitchating and kbkbing here is no use.
Go read the various media:zaobao ST forum Sunday Times, etc they reported parents' and students' comments. The parent that wrote in used the phrase \"played out\" as well. Why are you offended with the term \"I understand\"
大局已定 ? how do you know things can't be changed. Are you from Moe? I m not proposing must use the original site but moe should give parents options as suggested by a number of parents already.
By the way, as Dennisb pointed out, this is an open forum for discussion. There will be different viewpoints. -
A lot of time parents kpkb without knowing the full picture or the actual physical requirements of a new JC or school
Today’s A level quite different from 40 years ago in some aspects and the curriculum also changed
And the new norms of A level facilities definitely make many of the sites unsuitable -

That's my thinking too. I am sure they've run through all premises on their property listing, study the IP needs vs the layout of premises, and decided Mt Sinai is the only suitable venue that could be retrofitted easily. I doubt MOE is so mean as to send teens to Ghim Moh without careful consideration.A lot of time parents kpkb without knowing the full picture or the actual physical requirements of a new JC or school

MOE must have forgotten that teens and parents today are no longer the same as before. -

You give too much credit to the MOE planners. Like any other civil servant, they only respond to instructions and may not have considered the full picture. The are other vacant sites owned other agencies like SLA, did MOE consider them? It is only fair that as stakeholders, we make our views known. Some of the sites proposed here may have limitations but it is a good effort to seriously offer an alternative and open up for discussion.
Where is the open and consultative government that will share the views before implementing anything? This is not unlike the Sengkang case where a columbarium was put in the middle of HDB blocks and created a big ruckus. -

Aside from the columbarium case, there are other planning boo boos as well. For example, the Little India Riot. The CP actually said he was short of manpower and had requested to hire 1000 more policemen in view of the population increase. Some one up there turned him down - this is downright poor planning by the someone up there isn't IT?
Pirated; btw please don't use offensive language such as KPKB . I know one parent suggested an lmpractical site but she was trying to help and she apologised for the mistake . Additionally, how can you compare 40 years ago, many a parent are more well informed and involved these days. You can't blame parents expressing their frustrations when a simple j c building is taking longer than building the mammoth mbs! -
