No name is probably because it is difficult to decide on the name. Someone said can't be called a name like St Nicholas Singapore Chinese Girls Catholic Junior College. šŸ¦†

the name for the new JC cannot be so long
name can be shorter, powerful, full of impact

actually, pioneering batch for this new JC have the honor, can propose / put forth name for the new JC to MOE, since you are the pioneering first batch of students, going to make history down the road, several decade(s) later.
since MOE till now have not decided on any name yet, pioneering batch may suggest.

Merge them into CJC and all problems solved. No need to think of names, location etc and CJC is a long established JC without IP program and same name as Cat High. šŸ†’

Read the letter from MOE I posted. The interim site is within walking distance of Buona Vista MRT which is on both the EW and Circle lines. Very convenient. And the authorities are also looking at alternative transport arrangements for those living near Bishan. Shuttle buses maybe?
What is the address of the temporary holding JC? Need to measure the walking distance from Bouna Vista & Holland Village MRT.

Good suggesstion as CJC could expand the land behind which is empty & also in to the forested area. :imcool:

Hi parents, I know its late but just wanted to check kiasuparents for parents views on the IP JC that has been delayed. FYI, Im a secondary student in SNGS and ive been patronizing kiasuparents since P6. Touched to see how Singaporean parents are very concerned for their children. Hope you will not mind me in your forum as I just want to share my views as a student in one of the IP stream in the 3 schools.

Hi Innocent, so far, we have heard are parents' view. It would be good for you to share (from students' perspective) your view or general view of the affected students in SNGS. Do they intend to switch to 'O' level track?

Hi, so far although SNGS is the furthest from Mount Sinai, the Sec 1-3 students are not really planning on transferring to O Level Track. Rather, we are more upset about the location of the holding site as there was an uproar when the principal announced the changes. tbh, we have all accepted the fact that MOE cant do anything else to make up for their mistakes. But the principal spent assembly time talking and comforting us which in fact, didnt really change anything because at the end of the day, everyone knows its MOE's faults and not ours. I think that its the parents who want to switch their children to O level track or even transfer to another school (thats what my mother wanted to do) but as students, its not like we can do anything. We want SJI to move to the Sinai campus, we want to blame MOE, we want our future JC to be built. But we are only teenagers, and even the parents cant do anything to help us. Yes, the principal has suggested shuttle bus and everything, but this all could have happened if MOE wasnt so careless and shoved the JC aside. Okay, enough of my rant here. Hopefully the parents can now see our views in a clearer light (ofc, this is only speaking for SNGS students, I cant say the same for CHS & SCGS students).

I m an affected parent. Rest assured we parents are doing something to tell the relevant authorities to right what is wrong. Your principal's hands are tied - the MOE hasn't provided any good solution. As you can see most parents are unhappy, not as the letter tries to put it as the minority. There was uproar at Catholic High at the parents' briefing as well. Meanwhile just focus on your mid year and let the parents do the work.

According to DH, who spent 2 years there, the Mt Sinai site is at least 20 minutes walk from Buona Vista MRT station. Careful use of words in the MOE letter, within walking distance but not really that near. Nearer to take the bus from Ghim Moh depot or Holland Road bus stops.

ya, i was scratching my head when i read the \"within walking distance\" sentence. Anything more than 10minutes walk is not considered as \"within walking distance\" to me.
But objectively, Mt Sinai is definitely not some \"far-flung\" places as some had mentioned. Holland Road area is central, prime location.
Cannot be 20 mins. I've walked that route for 2 years. It's definitely within 10 mins. If you haven't walked that route, it looks like a long walk from the street directory.
The students even walked from mt sinai to Holland v regularly. We're taking about young abled bodied youngsters. The distance is really no issue for walking.

If the side gate is open perhaps even faster? Previously this was RJC, NUS High School, Dunman high now RGPS. The location can't be that bad right? šŸ¦†

I think some parents trying to see if the situation can help their kid to another IP track like HCI or RI? šŸ¦†

Cutting across HDB flats is already 15 min. Besides, google map typically underestimates the time taken. Anyway, those of us who have walked the distance knows it is at least 15 to 20 min.

If walk at peak hour from Buona Vista station, longer.
A few traffic light, to cross

what about walking, on rainy days ?
