      At what cost ?

Future schools under Prime can use the campus but they don't need the
Extensively refurbished lecture theaters and many other facilities meant for jc.
then do you want the school to be parked there permanently to make the costs justifiable? :siam:

Erm, actually whenever a new school moves into a holding site, it's renovated. Not just this site in Mt Sinai, it also applies for the ITE holding sites. So even if it should go to bishan ITE, the ITE will also need to undergo extensive renovations.

It may be time for facelift for some older JCs such as Serangoon JC, Temasek JC, ...and the list goes on.

Not just for JC, Secondary schools may also need facelift.

As for lecture theatre 1 and 2, even primary schools also made use of LT, not only JC.

            Example (s)
            - When Principal want to discuss with parents primary school curriculum, Rgps currently invite parents (P1 to P6), to goto LT1 and LT2 to discuss in the comfort of the Aircon, not inside the hall (no air con)

            - when P / VP / HOD want to hold discussion with subject Tr across P1 to P6 level, or to make presentation to other fellow teaching colleagues, they goto LT to discuss, not discuss inside the standard classroom.

            - or sometimes, when Master Subject Head curriculum sent down from MOE to train some Maths Tr in school, they also make use of Lecture Theatre facility.

            - when HOD / subject Tr want to inform a few classes of the same level cohort, about certain subject requirements made to Chinese Oral, for Rgps primary 2 studemts : students from P2A to P2D, these 4 classes of P2 students will go to Lecture Theatre 1 to listen concurrently to what Chinese Oral Tr had to say, while another five P2 classes : eg P2E to P2I, go to Lecture Theatre 2 (another LT) to listen concurrently.

Thus, it is a myth to conclude that :
Lecture theatres are only used by Junior College \"A\" level students, only.

As & when an occasion arise and there is a need to use it, primary school students, Teachers can also made use of lecture theatre, too.

            ==============================

Btw, this year (2015) at Mount Sinai :
There are P5, P6 students staying in Sengkang, Punggol, Sembawang, Khatib, Yishun, & also from the east like Pasir Ris, Tampines, East Coast, Bedok, Katong, studying in Rgps.

These Young pupils (12 years old) also bite the bullet, travel down so far down daily to Mount Sinai, to prepare for their major exam, Psle, coming soon. They just pesevered, they just endure.
A few years back when Moe announced the shift to temp site Mount Sinai, these affected children & their parents after hearing the announcement, they jusr accept it, bite the bullet, travel daily to & Fro to school.

I’m impressed with the swift response immediately after my question of what is the exact amount of cost. Seems to me like some official response . Anyway , I’m just asking what is the cost needed for extensive rejunation.

Yeah, whatever transparencies needed are all laid down.

Now that MOE had explained the reasons clearly, Look like MOE wont bulge : Mount Sinai is the reality JC set to go, from 2017 onwards[/quote]There is nothing to budge. What ideas are you bulging with ?

                    jetsetter:

At the end of the day, cannot means cannot, even highest authority - Min for Education 都放话出来了: \"I'm not saying that it is ideal when you have a delay, but the truth of the matter is there will be, in life, unforeseen circumstances...\"

So very likely, it'll still go back to square one, which is Mt Sinai! 🦆
What value are we trying to let the young generation know? If govt say something, no need to question, jus eat the dead cat \"吃死猫“? Don't ask, or fight for your own rights?

放话出来了so what? No need to give explanations of what when wrong which are impacting other people's life? How do you know that the other parents of students (RGPS etc) that are forced to go to Mt Sinai are not unhappy? They don't voice out like the parents here do not mean they are happy with the arrangement.

This is year 2015, not the police wear shorts time.. accountability is the key.

Ask yourself, if your company suddenly shift to JB, you can still have a choice to change a job. These students DO NOT have a choice now.

                      :goodpost: :nunchuk:

                      rains:
I think I would have been as indignant as the affected parents if it had happened to me.

It's one thing knowing where the school is and sending my kid to the school knowing from the start that my kid will, for sure, travel for more than an hour for 6 years, and another to have a beautiful picture of what and where the school will be like to get a nasty shock later.

There are quite a few things to get upset about if I were an affected parent:

                      1) the time frame - the promised time was mid 2018 and now it's end 2019. I think the diff is very the great lor. Delayed by a bit, people still can understand. Delayed by such a large margin - who has been sleeping?

                      2) the venue itself - you can't deny that there are parents who choose schools based on proximity. After all, isn't this the greatest concern of many parents during P1 registration? If you look at the highest T-scores in various neighbourhood schools, there are students who enter those really neighbourhood schools at 260+. I am quite sure these students just want to go to the nearest possible school and hence the 'strange' phenomenon.

Not everyone wants to go to RI or HCI so please don't shove them down everyone's throat.

                      3) the integrity of the promise/vision itself
If I had been one of the parents, I would not know how to trust the authorities with their vision anymore. They are not any Tom, Dick or Harry that you find on the street. They are entrusted with such an important mission, and they could mess it up. What else can I trust them with?

                      4) enjoyment of the promised facilities
I hope I get this right and you are free to point it out if I am wrong. I read somewhere that IP was introduced when the 2012 batch of students were due to choose their secondary schools. If it had been completed in mid 2018, the students could still enjoy half a year of the new JC? Now that it's postponed to end of 2019, these pioneer students don't even get to smell the promised building. I would be quite miffed if I were one of the students.

It doesn't feel quite the same if you have never set foot in the building. It doesn't feel like the school's yours. Hope it's not too abstract.

All in all, I feel that it's completely justified for the affected parents to feel very upset by the (lack of) arrangement.

I feel that just becos we are not in the situation, we should not feel entitled to pass snide remarks about being strawberries. Like that it's kinda durian to me - spiky and smelly. And we shouldn't be pineapples and papayas either - a pregnant colleague shared with me that these two fruits have enzymes that dissolve foetus (students). Not old wives' tale hor. Instead, let's be watermelons - sweet and refreshing.

After I read through 60+ pages, I find some of the posts highly suspicious leh. HWZ forurmers will understand.

Why are so many unaffected parents drawn to a thread that doesn't quite concern them huh? Why are some of these unaffected parents so passionate about a seemingly unrelated matter huh? Moreover, much efforts appear to go into diverting attention and distracting serious discussions on hot-button issues. Perhaps to prevent resentment from building up?

PS: I am sure I will be relentlessly criticized after this post but truth shall prevail.... :xedfingers:
