At the end of the day, cannot means cannot, even highest authority - Min for Education 都放话出来了: \"I'm not saying that it is ideal when you have a delay, but the truth of the matter is there will be, in life, unforeseen circumstances...\"

So very likely, it'll still go back to square one, which is Mt Sinai! 🦆

放话出来了so what? No need to give explanations of what when wrong which are impacting other people's life?

Lemme come back to this point. I don't think it was accidental that MP for Tampines HSK appeared at the Bishan community event to launch a frivolous Share a Book programme and make a special visit to residents not even under his care. You already have WKS, NEH and JT who are office holders to grace such routine events in Bishan. 😉

So it's likely he wanted to leverage on the platform to send a clear message to all affected parties, as well as to his underlings working on the second letter issued ytd.

Based on my observation of HSK, he is the unwavering sort, unlike some Min who will change their mind under \"public pressure\" and adopt a populist approach and solution to appease the masses and silence the minority.

HSK usually sticks to his principles and protects his subordinates if they have valid reasons. You can see how he tackled: a) PSLE oral boy's hair cut by teacher; b) Paedo MOE scholars; c) Hair for Hope St Margs saga.

My answer to your \"so what?\" He will stick to his guns and will give you the explanations on 25 May.
Oh dear, are kids made of paper nowadays?

So fast IB change people? 🦆 Are you an affected parent?

I won't say they are strawberries that they can't walk or take a bus. Definitely they can walk. But it's the accountability and the competency of the govt that is questionable. The affected parents and students just want to know why and what happened before the thousands of them walk the extra mile! If not, you want them to take bus to Johor also can.

Do you mean to say only affected parents have a right to post their comments in this thread? Let's be fair to sandunes. Doesn't mean if his/her view is different from yours, he/she is an IB.

Accountability issue is definitely something for the relevant authorities to address, but to suggest feeder bus just because of rain or the walk from bus-stop/mrt station to campus - that's obviously going to make some parents in ksp think strawberries or paper. How many schools had already used the campus as a temp holding site? What about the past RJC students?

If you think the shuttle bus suggestion is not appropriate and make the students look like strawberries, then you should quote the person who suggested this idea and ask him/her your question.

The affected parents and students just want to know why and what happened before the thousands of them walk the extra mile! Don't sounds as if they can't walk or made of paper, not fair to them.

Both are separate issues - strawberries and accountability. And both can be discussed in this thread. Why not? At most, use this icon :offtopic: can?
Of course Not every day lah, but on Those days that rain heavily in the morning on their way to school or after school, surely the students would not want to walk in the rain, reach school all drenched, uniform wet, socks wet, shoes wet, hair wet

Even if u want to quote example, quote Realistic examples !
Not quote unrealistic example like everyday rain !

When you are an administrator planning provide shuttle service for a school what designated time to pick up the students, of course they will take into consideration both sunny days, thunderstorm raining days.

On the coming discussion day, affected parents can bring up to The officer in charge, to provide shuttle service at regular interval early morning or after school at designated times during peak hour, or any burning concern that u have.

What value are we trying to let the young generation know? If govt say something, no need to question, jus eat the dead cat \"吃死猫“? Don't ask, or fight for your own rights?

放话出来了so what? No need to give explanations of what when wrong which are impacting other people's life? How do you know that the other parents of students (RGPS etc) that are forced to go to Mt Sinai are not unhappy? They don't voice out like the parents here do not mean they are happy with the arrangement.

This is year 2015, not the police wear shorts time.. accountability is the key.

Ask yourself, if your company suddenly shift to JB, you can still have a choice to change a job. These students DO NOT have a choice now.

Not only need to find out why eat dead cat also need to find who cause them to walk or ride the 冤枉路 for 2 years so they can be more 心服口服.

I am curious, for some mistakes made by MOE, the table has now been turned around to put the blame on these students and their parents and label them as \"strawberries\".

I urge affected parents to discuss this topic and stay focus on the issues on hand. MOE is obviously reading the posts here and have issued information circulars to address some of the issues raised.

With the planned dialogue, good for the affected parents to strategise and decide what needs to be raised in a rational and calm manner to MOE.

                Just don't get side-tracked.

I'm impressed with the swift response immediately after my question of what is the exact amount of cost. Seems to me like some official response . Anyway , I'm just asking what is the cost needed for extensive rejunation.

The cost has already been mentioned many times liao. Not an immediate response to you la

Was the cost in dollar and cents quoted anywhere before for this new jc or for the extensive refurbishment ? I probably missed it . Kindly quote it. Was just afraid a repeat of $100 Mio to $300 Mio. Some of the response do have the timing that is different from us who work in min of \"home affairs\".....

That's what i have been trying to say. Thousands of them going to walk the extra mile because of some MOE planners sleeping on this projects or what?

For years, different batches have been using the RJC site without much issue, so why is it different this time? What is causing the angst and unhappiness?

It can’t be that all the strawberries are from these 3 schools right? Think harder. There must be something more complex than just designating the affected students as "strawberries".

It is the loss of credibility and mishandling of a simple matter that resulted in this situation today.

As an affected parent with DD in SCGS, it’s true that the location is not our main concern but it doesn’t mean we feel nothing over the change of holding school site and delays of new IP JCs.

We made our choice of school based on the information available about the new IP JC and we trust MOE in delivering the “plan” and “promises”. While we try to understand unforeseen circumstances do happen but there is nothing wrong to feel disappointed over the lack of transparency in handling this issue and nothing wrong to feel injustice or betrayed by the changes.
Even though we are a minority as pointed out by some and the school is just a “small” school in the eyes of some and probably doesn’t warrant the attention but it also doesn’t mean the minority will just have to accept the ‘final decision’ in silence. We have the right to voice out our opinions as stakeholders.
If one day the company that I am working right now is going to shift from CBD district to Changi, I will consider to change job because I do not want to travel to Changi even though it is just a ‘few’ MRT stations away from CBD. Whatever decision I make, I have a choice. Some people do not mind travelling the longer distance because it is your choice and you make the choice based on your priorities and you are mentally prepared for it when you make the choice. It is totally different from an unexpected situation with no ‘choice’ for us. Because it concerns the critical 2 years in the preparation of A levels for our children and coupled with so many uncertainty and unknowns that we are anxious and worried.
I want to support those parents/students who are affected by distance because I do not see how choosing a school close to proximity which is what MOE is encouraging needs to be penalized with the changes with no options being offered. Why suddenly we are being criticized as being “over-protected” of our children and our kids are made of “paper”. It is MOE who is contradicting themselves over their message. It is indeed hurting to see such insensitive comments.
We went through the hard thinking process before we submitted our 6 choices of secondary school based on a lot of considerations. For whatever decision we made, we certainly hope and want the best for our children. There are a lot of lessons to be learnt from this whole issue and if MOE is not able to handle this issue properly, in my opinion, the implication is not only on affected students but future intakes to this new IP JC. I have another DD taking PSLE in 2 years’ time and if she qualifies for IP, I bet I am going to make my choice very carefully based on what I can see and not just a picture subjected to unforeseen circumstances because I do not want to risk another disappointment.
Last but not least, while I certainly would like to look at things positively, unfortunately I cannot be convinced at this point of time that the change would not turn out to be negative. A positive change will only happen when there is a concerted effort being put in to ensure things happen positively.
