            Hi parents, :?:

My ds is taking Sec 1 IP HCL. As we are a mixed race family and don't speak Chinese at home, we used to rely very much on the xuele website (for chapters in the textbook) & MC Online (for oral).

However, I tried accessing the xuele website to check out the audio textbook but there were no links to the chapters or links that don't work.

May I check if there is alternative web resource that we can use?

            Thanks so much!

Hi, any1 can share the diff in hcl and cl in secondary sch?

                    Hi hojan1972,

May be I can share with you the difference btw sec CL and HCL:

1 the assessment items are different: SEAB announced the new assessment criteria last year, which will be practice in 2016 O level exam.

For 2016 O level CL, the weighting and assessment of papers include the following:
                    (1) Paper 1 assessing writing ability (20 marks for email and 40 marks in Comp, 30% of the final results)
(2)Paper 2 assessing reading /comprehension ability (70 marks in total, 35% of the final results)
(3)Paper 3 assessing listening and speaking ability (70 marks in total, 20 marks for listening, 50 marks for oral, 35% of the final results)

For 2016 O level HCL, the weighting and assessment of papers include the following:
                    (1) Paper 1 assessing writing ability (20 marks for email and 60 marks in Comp, 40% of the final results)
(2)Paper 2 assessing reading /comprehension ability (80 marks in total, 40% of the final results)
(3)Paper 3 assessing speaking ability (40 marks in total, 20% of the final results)

2 There are other differences in terms of the assessment format btw CL and HCL.
i.e, For Paper 2, CL paper include: close passage/ MCQ / reading comprehension(open-ended question)
However, HCL paper include: close passage /identify and edit grammatical errors/MCQ and 2 to 4 short-answer questions /reading comprehension(open-ended questions) / summary

Normally the passages in HCL paper will be more difficult and longer than those in CL paper.
