lovinglife:
My DS is taking last paper today, Maths Listening. Other papers' scores were revealed but paper have not returned yet. Overall all subject have met my expectations (I didn't set very high in the first place LOL). Next term will cheong CL compo.

this week is week 8.
my kid's school will return parents Term 2 all marked Tests papers for 3 subjects, by end of next Friday, because \"Parents Meet Tr\" Conference day is coming up, in week 10 (last week of Term 2). Our school practise this \"Parents Meet Tr\" twice a year : Mid year (June) and at End of Year (November, Term 4)
had already sent my kid to attend weekly Chinese pure compo 作文 class since beginning of Term 2 : so that come Term 3 (July), no need to \"cheong\" CL compo, but be natural \"work in progress\".
noticed that a number of P2 students in my kid's school, also doing similar thing.
in fact, inside the 作 文 external tuition class :
some P1 kids are found sitting inside the same class, learning how to write together with the P2s, since this tuition class combine (P1 and P2) together, for 作 文. These P1s happen to be those, whose Chinese standard quite high, since they are able to cope along with P2's Chinese standard.
Yes, there are some kiasu P1 parents that had already kicked off their P1 kid, into writing 作 文. So what more for P2s like us, need to buck up, gather more speed

The Parent-Teacher-Meeting was crucial as I had a lot to learn indeed. Read a lot!!! This cannot be over-emphasized and it is going to get more challenging for the P2s. Sweat!!! 5 more months to go…and it will soon end this streaming for P2 to P3 nightmare in Nov.
How’s your PTM? -
Our PTM is stressed by the teacher as she placed lots of emphasis on the streaming to P3. She is aiming for the whole class to go to the top classes together. In her words, this Jun holiday is not for the kids to have fun, it’s for them to revise and catch up. I am lucky that my ds listens to his teacher. He plans his timetable to do his hw everyday, Mon to Fri 10am to 5pm. Of cos, there is breaks in between lah.

The P2 teachers have higher KPIs to hit if more kids end up in the top P3 classes. One of my friend’s daughter’s Teacher in another girls’ school in North-east questioned the mother what she has been doing if her daughter is not practising on past-year, top school exam papers?

Do you know your cop for HA classes?

How to compute COP for P2, based on 3 subjects (English, Maths, Chinese) ?

You have to check with your child's school and teachers. They will be in a better position to advise you what is the current standard of your child and how much effort the child needs to put in if aiming for the HA classes. -

For my DD's school, the top 40 scorers will go to the top No.1 class in P3. The next 40 scorers will go to 2nd best class. The rest will go to the mixed ability classes. The stakes are too high! The more experienced and qualified teachers are always assigned to the top classes. Haven't you noticed the trend where the better teachers usually teach in?
This June holidays should not be used for any vacations oversea. It should be used to brush up on the child's current standard.
Phtthp, you should check with your child's teachers. They will be in a better position to tell you where your child is heading to based on the mid-year results. It is still not too late to spend this one month to brush up the foundation.
Ask the teachers for advice and what needs to be done. Parents must ask otherwise not all teachers will share with you. -
Thanks for kind advice, sembgal
