2016 P1 Registration Exercise for 2017 In-Take

Hi. I'm a newbie here and very impressed with this thread.


My son is in K1 now and will be attending P1 starting 2017. We are planning to register him with Qifa Primary School in West Coast. Our address is very nearby and this is good news by far. However, we (parents) are extremely busy with work, unfortunately, we could not participate in PV. Apparently and sadly, Qifa Primary School does not allow grandparents to participate in their PV program as well.

Anyone has tips or advise on whether we will lose this chance of registering my son into Qifa Primary School? We will fall into Phase 2B or 2C?

If you are not PVing, you will be in Phase 2C. If you are Singporean, your chances of getting in should be quite secure. Last year, all Singaporean got in at Phase 2C, ballot for PR more than 2km. In 2013, there were still space left for Phase 2C supp.

I don't blame you. It is after hanging out here reading my eyes out for my boy's p1 reg next next year that I finally start to understand what is going on.

Anyway.

Which school are you aiming? which part of the charts you don't understand?

Hi. Caught in dilemma and unsure on what should be the advisable options. Like to seek some opinion / advice on my chances.


Am targeting these schools in order of preference - 1. Radin Mas Pri, 2. Alexandra Pri, 3. River Valley Pri.

Currently residing within 2km (beyond 1km) of Radin Mas, slightly over 2km from Alexandra and River Valley.
Had applied for PV at Radin Mas but was unsuccessful. Considering whether to shift to fall within 2km (but beyond 1km) where i will be in between Alexandra and River Valley. Should we shift or continue to hold our hopes for Radin Mas?

Have checked past stats, Radin Mas chances seems slim unless we really get lucky during ballot.

On the other hand, with the newly completed HDBs in the vicinity of Alexandra, chances for Alexandra may be equally slim as well.

Appreciate any thoughts sharing.

Based on current address and past statistics:
1. Radin Mas - No chance at >1km.
2. Alexandra - No chance at >2km.
3. River Valley - No chance at >2km.
Realistically, there's no hope (for these 3 schools) to hold on to if you don't move. It's probably worthwhile to consider other schools.

had given up the idea of targeting ‘branded’ schools and choose for the nearest one to my place. it’ll either be new town pri (the closest) or queenstown pri. actually all the charts i don’t quite understand.

for the bar chart, if there’s purple (phase 2c supp), it means there were still vacancy for the sch at 2c supp stage? what does 200% mean for the legend? then for the table, TUR and APP is making me confused…

TUP - Take up rate ( number or percentage of people who applied and got in successfully)
APP - Application (number or percentage of people who apply)

if the purple portion represents the TUR(take up rate) or the percentage of places taken up in that phase, out of 100%.

Judging by the chart and the school (queenstown pri) you are aiming, Phase 2C is pretty safe for you if you are staying within 1km, 2km and beyond, or even if you are a foreigner. The school's available vacancies are not even completely filled at the end of the P1 registration.

Any season KSP forumer feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
