I bought a carton of milk last week. The expiry date is 12.12.11, but it says after opening it must be consumed within 4 days. I tasted the milk today, and it seemed fine. Should I discard it and is it safe to consume? Thanks!

as for me, i follow the dates closely for dairy products and i hv a weak digestive system so i won’t tempt fate.

Yours is UHT milk? Normally can go beyond the "4 days" given as the dates or days given will always allow for some "extra allowance" so that consumers don’t complain if something turns bad.

The expiry date is valid as it is heat processed, and will keep as long as u do not open it. Once opened, it is best to keep to the '4days' as technically, now bacteria etc is introduced to the milk. Milk spoils rather easily, so I wouldn't recommend u exceed the 4 days.. 🙂

Oh yea, it's UHT milk. I have very weak stomach but so far I'm feeling okay. To make it safe, I threw it away. Thanks everyone! 😄

You should discharge it. when you open the milk, you're already letting in air get inside and therefore it is more prone to spoiling.

IF it is for your use then you can use this but if you have to give to a kid or toddler baby then please discard this because kids do not have strong stomach as we elders have.try your level best to use always fresh milk and on daily basis.

I think it’s safe to throw it away, why take risk.
