2016 P1 Registration Exercise for 2017 In-Take

Ai Tong was operating in a holding campus due to the school's upgrading for the last 2 years (2014 and 2015). The holding school (in the former Ang Mo Kio ITE Campus) is, unfortunately, very far from the original school location (in Sin Ming). I'm sure that may have played a part in some parents' decision to select another school. However, they are slated to move back to their old campus in 2016, with upgraded facilities and all. I'm quite sure it will be popular again, with a probability of around 50% for Phase 2C.
I will be more conservative at 50% at most. Last year was a easy year, as it was the first year the 20 seats reserve for Phase 2C make it seems very hopeful, 31 spaces 47 applicants, even with this number is 65% chance, which is probably one of the easier year to get into Aitong ... otherwise it has been at most 50% chance only. Let's see how it goes this year. -

Yes Galaxyraider, parents, myself included do try to get our kids in a good school. I'm trying to get my child in 2C phase as well but don't want to ballot. Almost all good schools have balloting within 1km. It's like playing lottery. No matter what the odds, there is always a chance you will lose. So 90% chance of getting in means 10% chance you don't.
If it comes to a ballot, I would rather my chances are close to 100% as possible.
Otherwise pick a school with no ballot within 1km in last few years instead.
Most relatively \"good schools are full by phase 2C.
If you end up in 2C supplementary, most schools won't have a place for you. If you do and end up balloting in 2C supp......., I don't want to consider that possibility.

the school did told me chances are up to 80 percent. not 80 percent.
as the history of birthrate goes, which is lowest birthrate for 2010.
as the recent property sale of sin meng avenue for the past 5 years, chances of sc applying for aitong chances are already there. -

Looks like some schools are going to ballot in phase 2A2 and 2B this year.
Especially Henry Park Primary. Only 62 places left after 2A1!!
The trend is the older schools all have generally high intake (more alumni and old students).
I don't think its going to be any different next year, despite the low birth rate for 2010. Esp if we fail to include new citizens who will boost up numbers.
I think a lot more parents will try for popular schools if they think chances of getting in are better next year.
Lets all hope for the best, and keep our fingers crossed.

Does anyone know if we end up in balloting situation in phase 2CS, and get balloted out, will Singaporean get priority in choose remaining school, before MOE opens up all vacancies to foreigners?

Foreigners will be able to register only in Phase 3.
According to MOE, if a child is balloted out in P2Cs, when entering Phase 3, children will be admitted in the following order:
a. Children who are Singapore Citizens (SC).
b. Children who are Singapore Permanent Residents (PR).
c. Children who are not Singapore Citizens (SC) or Singapore Permanent Residents (PR).
For categories (a) and (b), allocation will be conducted according to the order of priority based on the home-school distance category.
In Phase 3, since vacancies are limited, MOE posting is final, they will not entertain any appeals on the posting results. Therefore, a good strategy in 2c will help you to avoid balloting in 2Cs.
