I also have a friend selling her Yamaha U3 if you’re interested. 10 yrs old (bought in Jan 2000), colour is black. Hardly use and well kept.

Another friend is selling Yamaha LU80 (jap model), her kids are in overseas now so she’s selling off the piano. It’s also black, around 13-14 yrs old. Also well kept.

end up i hv decided to buy a brand new piano - Hailun 125…come with 10yrs warranty…no worries on wear n tear of used piano

Yes, that’s the pro about getting a BN piano. However some pianos may sound good in the first few years then it starts to go down the drain, a 2ndhand however will have been seasoned to its true sound. Hailun…ok, won’t comment on it, as long as you’re happy with it. Everyone’s got their own opinion about what’s good and what’s not.

Mine is not a grand but an upright grand. I have thought for quite some time before changing. Many factors to consider, eg.
1) Your child find the existing piano lost the touch and cannot express?
2) Is your child determine to go further?

I'm deciding between a digital piano and a acoustic piano. Prefer the digital one due to space constrains. My girl started music group class last june. Can the digital piano bring her till grade 2-3? When do kids usually take the Grade 1 test generally? I know an acoustic piano is definitely better but I cant fit that in the room and there are too many distraction in the living room. I only practice piano with her at night so the digital one is preferred as the volume is adustable. I have spoke to one salesperson from a reputable piano shop who said that using a digital piano is not recommended as the kid will take time to adjust back to the piano touch. I'm looking at Yamaha Clavinova CLP series. Any advice?

It is ok to buy a digital piano first (i have actually used one for 9 years, and it was also a clavinova CLP-930, even now, when i am in grade 5 - cause some parents might not be sure whether their child's interest continues, right?) though the salesman is right in saying that the kid will take time to adjust to the piano touch (i do have first hand experience cause i was going around reviewing accoustic piano today and found that playing some of the harder keyed piano was not a very comfortable experience for me).

Cause, (as i had mentioned before) i was going around looking for a suitable piano, and i found this piano brand called schimmel which produced (in my opinion), an angelic quality kind of sound. However, it is not very tall, but the salesman said that when comparing heights, the brand does matter because a tall piano of a china piano (no offence intended to those who likes chinese piano) might not produce as good a sound as, for example, a german piano.

I think Schimmel piano is sold exclusively by Chui Piano in Thomson Plaza. Though German-origin, it's major shareholder is now Yamaha. If you like the sound, then perhaps you can also try out other similar European brands such as Seiler, Petrof, W Hoffmann. Some experts commented that Schimmel sound is unique in itself.

Btw, don't rule out Chinese pianos. There is this Hailun brand that is fast gaining a good reputation amongst the locals here.

my student has one this brand piano.she told me is 5k.anyway,i don think it is worth it.
