somehow I just feel a little uneasy, as he might have some disillusion of what commando and special forces really are and whether he wants to join them for the RIGHT reason.

          this I do not know.

commandos / special forces have a upper age limit, once past the prime, they would be rotated to other postings or out of the army. Army retirement age is much earlier than statutory retirement age.

My dd, apparently, has in mind to be a pyscologist or counsellor. What do u think on the career prospects of these 2 in Singapore? If one has a degree in pyscology, what career line can one branch to?

I agree that to be a counsellor or psychologist, one needs strong mind.

My friend who works as a prison counsellor, I can see some of her cases are quite beyond normal human capacity but she has the will of steel to work on them.

Thanks insider and ks2me for your advice.

I agree in both of you about one needs strong mind, and get suck into other's problem. I also have the feeling that pyschologist and counsellor won't be happy themselves. I am thinking, maybe combine pyschology with childhood education for special needs, at least still not so bad right?

She has this ambition since upper primary time. Maybe she would change her ambition one day .... 😄

I have a different view to this. No doubt the economic factor to generate revenue for oneself is critical for one to spend time on a vocation, I believe passion comes stronger.

I imagine being in daisyt’ dd shoes. If I have the strong character to others emotional issues n can still enjoy the woork, that is already battle won against self. Next for poor kids who need help but no funds, I believe in working with a funding organisation to solve that problem. By doing that she can bring more help to those needy children instead of just giving free services on her own. If always look at self, we can achieve little but if we can extend ourselves beyond self, it is the power of synergy works, we should learn from the ants sometimes.
