All About Church/Clan/Society Membership

Hi all…


I’ve been trying abt 4mths trying to get 2 sponsor for the SHHK membership. This is not easy I must say! Finally I’ve managed to get a signature from a kind lady. But I’m still short of 1 more signature…Will really appreciate if anyone here can help me with that? Just 1 more will do…Will travel to your place of convenience at anytime.

I went in to CHA website to view the application. However, I saw that we need to key in a recommender, member of CHA yes/no and year of graduation. Is the 3 fields necessary?


Will it make a difference of who recommend, member of CHA etc?

Can any hub or old boys of CHS help to be my recommender?

i’m probably able to get in via 2B (Church affilition) but i’m not within 1 or 2km from the school.
Any views on the probability of getting my child into the school ?
Or sld i buy a unit 1km from the school to up my chances ?

Sometimes I feel that the whole thingy about PV and clan/etc is a bit unfair, MOE shld do away or implement some controls over it…haiz…

SHHK does not have a quota of letters to issue. Apparently they will only know the numbers after the end of Phase 2A2 and from there derive a magic mystic number of letters to be sent out. They will only inform the successful ones just before Phase 2B registration - nerve wrecking.

Based on my limited understanding (cos I not staff, dunno how they think), tenure of membership is a very important criteria. Next come number of volunteer hours/work put in - the higher the better.

I just heard about friend whose request for application letter was rejected cos he stayed too far.

Out of it all, the only definite thing is that there is NO guarantee that all members can get the letter. Just as those who are accepted PVs....I heard that some couldn't fufil the number of hours cos the school didn't contact them enough.

What school are you trying for? Have you check out the statistics for prior years? May be too late to think about moving now if u are going for registration this year.

Will renting help, if it's too expensive to buy ? I have a friend who rented near ACS Barker, and got his son into the school

that would be my last resort - though i think the rental there wld be just as high !!
