Chief, if really one day KiasuParents.com go IPO then our KS points should turn into shares (1 point = 1 share) to reward us for the our support. ๐Ÿ˜„

When do you think Bernake will hike interest rate?

And when do you think China will re-value yuan?

              MMM:

Let me get the ball rolling. I am a \"emotional\" investor due to the \"feeling\" for the company. Did have some expensive lessons after listening to \"insider\" news on forums. Ended up holding shares that I am still stuck :moneyflies: :clubmyself: But I learnt from it and have since become less trusting and only trust myself. My belief is \"If it's so easy, the other guy is already rich\" and \"There is no free lunch in this world\".
Thanks MMM for starting this thread. I'm like you, but more of the, if I feel like it, then will start monitoring actively. So far, portfolio still in the red due to last fall, but slowly clawing back to being in the black.

I'm in favour of blue chips for their dividend yields and that these are typically backed by a stronger being - ST Engineering, Cap Land, SIA...these are my favourites. Have bought flavours of the month, only to be still regretting these. And I do miss those that were taken over - Unisteel, Sing Food.

                hquek,

Do you play in the US market?

I think it's more interesting than SGX shares where price range is limited. It takes a long time to move.

US market on the other hand, can swing alot within the day. Pros and cons and depends on when you bought the share. But with the volatility, sometimes even with loss, if you choose a good stock, you will still be able to regain your capital and profit. Unlike Spore stocks.... sometimes like totally no hope despite holding a really long term view

I got in Citibank at $4.20+ sometime last year thinking that it has dropped. But it eventually went down to $3.20+. Right now it is $4.36. Bought more when it is around $3.30 so start to make $. I am hoping to hold a long term view as I believe in the long term potential of Citibank.

It just made me feel that I should not be wasting more $/ opportunities in SGX but just waiting for my shares to rise further then I will probably cut loss and move on.

I also have a bad habit of being emo.... like my genting. I saw it going up to 1.30 level but choose to still continue a long term view so I hang on... Now it's 0.90. :stupid: I had many of such incidents where I choose to hold LT view and yet.....Maybe I am being greedy.

For me, I am using poems to trade. I just asked my broker to activate the US trading account. I've not tried japan market. But you can try to speak to your broker about it.

                      hi mmm,

Nope, no clue how to. Hubby was so excited about going into the US market when it was going crazy (citibank going for dollars).

Agree it's more interesting and volatile, but I feel that generally the market seems to be dominated by pp who are in the know. end up I'm on the losing end. So I just buy those 'safer' stocks and partake in the dividend.

I'm more of the buy and hold person. If a stock is good, why should I buy and sell? I need to get rid of that mentality but sometimes I just prefer to hold. And I'm not aggressive player - I buy what I can afford to pay for (no guts to shortsell).

Am hoping to get into some Ascendas REIT. Was looking at Noble, Olam....but it shot up after I started looking but never got into buying. :stupid: :stupid:

We are in a funny situation now.

Hubby and I bought Citibank at the 3 plus level. Recently the announcement came out that the government is going to get rid of their holdings. So the price went down to $4. To me, that is nothing new.

Hubby sort of panic and sold off at 4.15. His intention is to let it drop and buy back. I told him that I am holding a LT view so I wasn't keen to react. I was tempted at some point when it was hovering at 4.05 level. But over the past few days, it is hovering at 4.30 level. So now he is hoping that it will drop then he can buy back. While I am hoping that it will go up further
