I guess would be good to discuss early as very often I heard parents that they have very little time to prepare for DSA. In additon, PSLE 2015 the Eng exam syllabus would have a change. :yikes:

Here are my questions & if any expert can answer do share it here. :? :? :imdrowning:

Q1. If a particular school COP is 255, going through DSA meaning can drop to 245-254? Would the kid have to strugghle very badly since they are not coming by the normal S1 posting?

Q2 How to find a school participate in DSA & what types of DSA features they would be looking for?
Having a low T-score may not tell the whole story. If one is weak in, say, Chinese, it will affect roughly 25% of the score. But once in sec school, Chinese weightage drops as there are more subjects.

But I believe that in most IP schools, it's gonna be teach-less-learn-more and that may not suit every child.

For the full list of schools that are participating in DSA 2013 including their niche areas, you may like to refer to the following MOE website.
        http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/dsa-sec/participating-schools/

However, if you are looking at schools with COP of around 255, then you are probably looking at the IP schools. You may like to check the websites of your targeted IP schools for details.

Check out MOE websites for information. Then visit websites of schools you’re interested in as they will post open house dates, although the open house meant more for P6 kids. If your child is a boy and you want him to enter boys’ school, please note open houses start earlier. No idea why but i only found our when friend mentioned when her DS was in P6 last year.

It depends on whether you are going via DSA sports or DSA Academics. My DS went thru the DSA Sports route. That means he must be heavily involved in tat sports since P4. He must be in his school team who represented both zonal and national tournaments.

Anyone planning to bring DC to open houses although in P5 this year? I was thinking of going to motivate DS.

It’s a good idea to do so cos some schools (HCI and RI in particular) will have their open houses on the same day. Do one in p5, and the other, in p6.

Actually I heard that we should not apply for DSA if your child is very smart because you may apply to go to that school, but rhen when your child goes to PSLE, they can go to a better school, they MUST go to the DSA school chosen.
