That's a long time... gonna miss you at KSP.
:!: You gonna ban me from KSP? Don't lah... still need the generous sharing in KSP to keep up with the local education system. πŸ™

      Busymom:
Yes, we have NYPS in mind. Ultimately, whether she gets in depends on other factors. Thanks for the info regarding the Grade 2 theory. If DD goes to NYPS, I am indeed thinking of the string ensemble. At what age does one sign up for CCA? P2?
Here's what I found out from a friend. The students are invited to join the string ensemble earliest in P3. No exam grades needed but must be able to perform at minimum grade 5 standard and interested students will have to go through an audition.

So far, my friend has yet to hear of P1 & P2 in the String Ensemble. At those levels, the students are taking lessons/coaching from the violin teachers instead. My piano teacher ever mentioned the mother of a NYPS P2 kid requesting her to work on Grade 2 theory with him. So, I suppose theory will also be covered in P1 & P2. (you need to check out on this with the teacher.) πŸ˜„
      Busymom:
The best example is probably Albert Einstein who was supposedly good in violin?
      Bingo! :celebrate:

... Sometimes, I wonder if the time could have been better spent on the academics and πŸ™ that their academics wouldn't suffer as a result. I mean, it's not like they are going to become a musician...
how do u know they're not going to become a musicians?

if they do choose to be one? will u object?

Safe to say that they are not prodigies, otherwise I wouldn't be vomitting so much blood...

Oh no... another audition :imconstipated: Anyway, still too early to lose sleep over this πŸ˜“ But thanks for the info in any case. Will bear it in mind. :xedfingers:

But do you mean to say that at P1 and P2, the students could already join some violin classes in school?

Apparently so. But my friend isn't very sure if these are paying classes or considered as CCA. When your girl starts P1 next year, try approaching the violin teachers and explore with them the possibilities for her.

                  Good luck! πŸ˜„

                    Will do! :thankyou:

By the way, do you worry if your kids would be able to settle back into our system when they come back?

Of course, I am a little worried. But I suppose if I'm continue to coach/homeschool them on local curriculum, they should be alright in their academics. But adapting to the pressure cooker system is another matter... can only hope for the best... πŸ™

No wonder you were talking about homeschooling. Your kids are bright - they'll do just fine. Wishing you all my best. :grphug:
