      Not true.

      Some teachers don’t really teach.
When it comes to exam, they set tough questions.

Depends on your son’s choice of CCA. Some like track & field or cross country have training 3-4 times a week, including Sat.

Btw for Maths tuition, some HCI kids go to Indigo at Goldhill Square for IP Maths. They follow HCI math schedule quite closely.

            Hi ellehchim,

May I know what are the DSA rulings ?

            Thanks for sharing
Hi, sorry that I may have used the wrong word, should be restriction instead of ruling *Pai Seh*

For students who DSA via sports, I guess they have to join that sports CCA for a certain no of years (not sure how many years).

For other restrictions as stated in MOE's website (http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/dsa-sec/) as
*Students admitted to a school through DSA-Sec Exercise will not be allowed to participate in the annual Secondary One Posting Exercise as places have already been reserved for them in the DSA-Sec schools.

*Students admitted to a school through DSA-Sec Exercise will not be allowed to transfer to another school after the release of the PSLE results. They are expected to honour the commitment to the posted DSA school for the duration of the programme admitted to.

I had that impression earlier too. 😂

In the earlier months of the year, the seniors students had shared with the sec one kids that as long as you pay attention in class and take notes of what the teachers is teaching in class, do regular revision , exam is not an issue, even if they had lots of time consumed for CCAs/school activities.

Ds used to have enrichment/tuition lessons but due to CCA/school activities involvement, no time, had dropped them eventually. Was skeptical to drop earlier for fear that he will not be able to cope with less teaching and maybe tough exams 😂 However, I tried to console myself that the style of teaching may not be like other secondary school, holding hands style. I feel they could be training the kids to be independent, the JC/Uni teaching style that the kids eventually will face in years to come.

The kids had gone through few tests/exams as of now, and I had noticed that independent learning in the kids through these exams. Ds and his classmates will share responsibilities in making notes and share among themselves. Despite he did not do well to expectation but i do see that 'learning skill' growing in the kids which is applauding.

hi Monet, some CCAs do operates on Saturday. Individual CCA has their own schedule and training. My ds does go on some Saturdays, although his CCA stated 2 days a week.

You may want to refer to HCI's website to understand about their CCAs, http://www.hci.sg/hs_cca/

Click on the CCAs to have a rough idea about their training and information. Please note that the date stated are for reference only.

                      hi all

Has any of your children gone for the Integrated Boarding Programme?

Based on the presentation, i find it quite interesting, but I wish it wasn’t for an entire semester! When the kids are in boarding, are we allowed to take them out for dinner at times? And when are they usually released to go home?

Anything else that would be good for parent/child to know before deciding whether to board?

                      Thanks!
