my dd1 is like me, we both hate minty toothpastes. back then, she used the kiddy toothpastes but after sashimi caught her \"eating\" them twice on separate occasions, we threw the kiddy toothpastes away. when i started using systema toothpaste, i let dd1 try it as it has a mild taste. recently, they came out with a sakura flavour which she likes but i don't so we've stopped sharing toothpastes. when it comes to dd2's turn, i suspect she'll want to \"graduate\" to adult toothpaste sooner than dd1, since she'll probably want to imitate her jie-jie. šŸ™‚

using adult toothpaste with flouride is one thing, good dental habits is another. dd1 already has fillings done by the sch dental nurse cos she is lazy about brushing her teeth. i have to constantly remind her to brush properly or else she will end up with teeth like daddy's.

        :!: :!:

Yes, Daddy blames his elders for not instilling good dental habits in him when he was a kid whereas I had an aunt and a mother (and a late grandpa) who were quite insistent with keeping my teeth clean. I only had my first filling in early adulthood, and only 1. Daddy also loves his coffee so his teeth are stained too. He hates visiting dentists now cos the sessions hurt. I say tt it's cos his teeth are a dentist's nightmare. On the other hand, I can bring my DDs to the dentist with me cos my sessions are calm, quick and painless. šŸ˜‰

I ever saw my dentist selling systema toothpaste but not any other brand. I did not really ask him but guess maybe this brand is more popular or better?

\"It will taste hot but we are going to brush quickly. I will count to 5 then it is done!\" .

If count to 5, will it be too fast that they may not clean their teeth properly?

Think would be best to switch my kids to adult toothpaste or toothpaste with flouride. Any recommendations?

I have also check with her on the dental toothbrush for kids by HPB but was told to drop the idea  .

Actually I like to buy those toothbrush by HPB for my kids. I find it is very easy to brush, but just don't know why the dentist discourage. :?

I played trick with them. I count slowly... šŸ˜‰ \"One....one....one one one one one one... Two! Two... two... two.. two.. two.. two... Three! Three three three three three. Four! Four.. four.. four.. four......... four! Five! Five... five......five........five...............five!\" Sometimes I tell a short story in between counting, juz to drag it longer... haha. Of course after that make sure they gurgle properly.

Okie, pls excuse my ignorance ....

My 2 and a half is currently using a non-flouride toothpaste cuz he tends to swallow sometimes ... I was under the impression that we should only introduce flouride toothpaste when they are old enough to 'understand' that they cannot swallow while brushing cuz flouride is bad (isn't it some kind of chemical)

                    Can someone enlighten???

BTW, I have just introduced mint flavour to make the transition into flouride toothpaste easier ... DS didn't like it at first and I took a break, then tried again. This time, it was successful šŸ˜„

                      Hi Autumnbronze,

So sorry I also not sure whether it is good to swallow flouride . Anyway, I think it will still be best if your kids already know how to split out the toothpaste before you introduce them the flouride toothpaste šŸ˜„ .
