              Any with parents having glaucoma?

              Could cataract cause glaucoma?
              Tks.

                  thanks for sharing.
                  1) May I ask if yr hubby is >50 years old?
                  2) What is the treatment for glaucoma?
                  3) after the removal of cataract, did the glaucoma condition improve?

My hubby was told to see eye specialist by our optician during one of the sessions when he wanted to get new specs and he told my hubby to do it asap. That was how he found out he had glaucoma and he already lost 30% of sight in his left eye… that was more than 5 yrs ago or maybe even longer. He was probably early or mid 40s then.

Treatment for glaucoma then was eye drip to control eye pressure for initial years… subsequently, he needed to do an operation to release the eye pressure. Since then his eye pressure stablised and all seems well for glaucoma.

This year, his glaucoma dr realised that he has cataract so my hubby opted to remove cataract and at the same time, correct his long sightedness.

                    Hope this helps.

My mum, during her routine eye-checkup at SNEC, found that her right eye pressure was on the high side. The doc said could be the thickening of cataract presses on optic nerve and hence increases the eye pressure. The glaucoma doc said removing the cataract helps in the glaucoma condition but we worry abt the follow-up treatment.
