T SCORE tends to be higher when the paper is difficult because more people will do badly, so the mean will be lower and those who do good will end up getting a high t score because of how the t score works. Just in case you did not know, the t score is not out of 300gardenia64:
Overall psle papers for 2015 are much difficult than the previous year. So the t-score cut of point is higher than last year. It might be increased by 3-5 marks. Let's hope tmr's higher Chinese paper will be easy. Wish all the students who take the HCL tmr a good success. Have a good sleep tonight..
ya, read thru the thread / feedback fr ds , seem like 2015 psle is generally more tricky or difficult .
But what is the reason / relationship drawn to T score , u mean more difficult means higher T scoring or higher cut off point ? -
i am quite worried now, because i thought the paper, other than a few crazily difficult questions, others were really easy(did similar questions in school before). Are you guys sure it was that difficult? I’m kinda worried now because of it since i am not an A* Science student(Ever since P5 at least) and i am afraid its just me being tricked by the question left and right. Btw, good luck to us for hmt tmr… hopefully i get merit or even distinction if i am lucky

Careermum:
Thanks snowyqueen for the sharing. Ya, I hope there is some moderation done to the Chinese oral. That's what his enrichment teacher says. But I took her word with a pinch of salt coz I always thought only t-score has moderation & not in just an oral section. Now that your dd teacher also said so, I believe so :)[/quote]
Just to share my experience, I remember when my dd was taking PSLE in 2013, I thought she was unlucky to get the oral topic about 运动会 because it was more difficult than the other one and also the conversation she got was more difficult than others - describe 一个有趣的活动. The questions asked was very different from others. In the end, she didn't quite know those 词语 relating to the sports stadium etc and she was prompted 4 times by the teachers on the conversation topic as well. She was very sad as it would blow her the chance of getting A* because of how she fared in the oral. However, her Chinese teacher also told her most likely they would do a moderation in results between the first day and second day because of the difference in degree of difficulty. Because of this, I was feeling \"insecure\" till the day PSLE was released.snowyqueen:
My DS & his classmates who are on 2nd day all says difficult coz nothing much to talk about.
At the end of the day, she still got a A* for Chinese and probably whether she was lucky or unlucky to get such topic wasn't that important after all.
On the other hand, she got an easy topic for her English oral and she thought she did well for her conversation as well as compared with her best friend who wasn't really answering well for the questions as asked by the invigilator. Her best friend's answers seemed not very relevant to the question asked and she thought she didn't answer it correctly.
In the end, this friend got an A* for English while my dd got A.
It is the overall performance that counts......
Anyway Good Luck! All the best to the results
Ya, my chinese teacher said so too but we might still lose out a bit to the first day ones. -
What are the answers for the throwing ball qn, life cycle qn and melting ice qn? Thank you.
