If one cluster for eg, East. There are few good schools, St hilda’s, Tao Nan, Gong Shang Primary, Red Swastika primary… will the marking be in the East more strict? Thanks

Marking will never be ccompletely fair. There is always human factor involved when it comes to creativity for compo.
Strict marking can be an advantage as well cause only accurate answer will be awarded.

          Agree, because depend on subject

If mark Science or Maths MCQ Section A, answers are standard : either right or wrong.

But if mark English compo or mark Chinese Zuo wen, can be subjective.
One Tr may feel that this student’s essay is good, give high marks, while another Tr who mark may feel that the essay is so so. Subjective

After marking psle for 4 days, what’s the next step that they need to do ?

Total up the marks for 4 subjects for each student, submit to Moe to prepare Psle cert for each pupil, per school ?

Return all script back to respective school ?
Admin sort out results, find out mean std deviation per school, factor mean & std deviation into students raw score to churn out T-score, identify pupils with 250 and above, identify top student ?

Thanks for your reply. I did not know that PSLE marking is by clusters. My girl's school is in the East. I knew marking is never completely fair. Just that I have seen some schools, their markings are generally lenient for composition and science OE.

I think - don't quote me on this - that at least two markers independently mark each composition and the average is obtained. If, however, the marks are significantly divergent, then a senior moderator will take a look.

Subjectivity can work in a candidate's favour. A marker might be generous and give the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully, the generous markers outweigh or at least balance the stricter markers.

If both markers agree to the compo written, the grades will be favorable to the student.

Can any parent share what your p6 kids are doing in school everyday after the exams? My DS is so bored and he said there was nothing exciting happening in school everyday. No sports or outdoor activities allowed due to the haze. Only play board games or read in class. No more lessons and the teachers leave the children to their own devices. The only excursion they had was to visit the plant whereby NEW water is manufacturerd. Actually the school has a yearly 3-day trip to Malacca but thus time round is cancelled due to the haze, much to the disappointment of the children. The haze really spoils the celebrative mood of this year's post-PSLE days. :gloomy:

usually in class we play board games and read, nothing much.
my school organised three field trips, to science center, discovery center, and rws sea aquarium.

Your school certainly has more outings and activities planned for you compared to DS's school.

Yesterday, the students were given a 2-hour talk on social etiquette. DS said they were taught how to walk and sit and properly especially for girls who wear high heels and skirts. Supposed to learn dining etiquette too but time was limited and it wasn't covered.
