No, my friend stay far away in Punggol (exceed beyond 2 km)
my friend’s daughter is a role model pupil (class monitress) in the SAP school, within Top 2 in her P1 class last year.
for Transfer @ end of P2 (into St Nick) -
school does not give priority, to those staying within 1 km.
Distance is not the main factor they consider.
Instead, they look for "all-rounder" type of candidates. -
Heard this from a grandma a few weeks ago. The family moved from East to landed property just beside SNGS last year. Applied for transfer last year when the child is in P2, wanted to transfer to SNGS in P3. The child is from SAP school in the EAst with above average results but not top few or model pupil. SNGS informed there is no vacancy. Not sure if the child was granted interview in the first place. Still no news till now. Though sample size is small ( only 2 samples now), Can’t help but conclude ‘distance’ is a less important factor than results for transfer to SNGS…

Ok I am thinking for P3 are they waiting out dsa results?

your daughter P3, this year (2015) ?
P3 students do not apply for DSA (Direct discretionary Secondary school admission) yet, P3 too early for DSA, only P6 students then apply, because P6 is one year just next to Secondary 1, not P3.
Yes, St Nick awaiting for release of P3 Gep results.
Release of P3 Gep results is expected (coming soon), around the week of Nov 9 (Mon) to Nov 13 (Fri), because those offered (if any) :
will need to attend a Gep briefing at NUS High on Saturday (14 Nov) early morning, with their parents.
for St Nick girls who managed to clear Round 2 Gep, offered big brown envelope by Moe, Transfer out to one of the nine Gep centre, school start to count the number of vacancies released by these P3 girls, one by one.
At the same time, school already have in mind certain Total number of girls, for 2016 P4.
With this quota in mind, & then checking against on record how many P3 girls intend to leave the school for Gep curriculum in another school, school then able to calculate (by working backwards) : Total how many vacancies are there left, so as to absorb external P3 pupils seeking Transfer to come in, starting their new academic year in P4
(wonder if there are any St Nick girls offered Gep but in the end, decline to take up the offer, instead decide to stay back in this school) -

actually, it is easier to transfer into SNGS at end of P2, instead of wait until end of P3.Heard this from a grandma a few weeks ago. The family moved from East to landed property just beside SNGS last year. Applied for transfer last year when the child is in P2, wanted to transfer to SNGS in P3.

because if wait until end of P3 : the competition is far greater !
By then, once the P3 Gep screening results are released, school is now given the opportunity, to hand pick those who cleared Round 1 Gep test, to come in to replace or fill up the vacant gap left behind by those P3 students who head for Gep school.
coming back to the family of this Grandma, her grand-daughter should have waited until the offer come, before shift house from the east to nearby SNGS -
Would appreciate if P3 parents could update here if have news about the transfer. The wait is quite unnerving. My kid is from a good school, did well and is a role model/student leader but still no news. The only drawback is; we are staying quite far away.

To be pragmatic, I suspect most Principals evaluating transfer cases would put a lot more weightage on academic performance rather than distance. After all, academic performance will directly impact their KPIs.

Good evening, any parents with girl joining St Nicks P3 next year?

There should be quite a handful coming in (if they decide to accept the offer), more than maximum single digit number 9, based on my friend's sharing.
But not all may accept, since some receive multiple Transfer offer.
Example
If receive offer from both SCGS and SNGS, concurrently : accept which one ?
She said that for all Transfer-in P2 girls offered to join St Nick next year, 2016 P3 -
they had been briefed that Transfer cases can only join P3 \"Mixed Ability\" class, so as to enable them to get accustomed to St Nick school culture and learning environment.
No Transfer pupil allowed to join any P3 Top class.
She continued that P3 and P4 : will remain in the same class.
The next round of streaming, however arise at end of P4, entering P5. (2018)
my friend have until this Friday (6 Nov), to decide which offer to take up.
if she choose SNGS, her dd from a SAP school and your daughter (possibly from another SAP primary school), may end up in the same 2016 P3 class.
