The invitation letters for prize presentation were given out on Friday. The P said the school is trying out a new procedure this year - they will try to announce class allocation on mconline by Nov 30. I'm curious, given that this year P4 were en-bloc from P3 (no \"real\" HA classes in P4 based on P3 results), whether most of the top 5 achievers from the 8 P4 classes will end up in HA next year. -

Right. The invitation cards were given out last Fri too. My DS told me teacher mentioned class allocation will be out next week? Anyway, we will find out tomorrow since there is ptc tomorrow for p2.lovinglife:

If it's the same as last year, p2 -> p3 will be split into two groups HA n MA.
The top 160 pupils are placed into 4 HA classes based on S-formation.
The remaining students are then also put into the MA classes with the same formula.
This is to ensure that there's no best or worst HA or MA class. -
Hi Zappy
Thanks for the insights. Understand HA probably studies higher ability work? In this case, HA and MA also go thru the same PSLE route/paper? Able to share the main differences? Will school also focus on MA students? -
Is the HFMD outbreak under control in Nanyang Primary? Understand that the affected pupils are on mc at home.

All the kids (GEP, META, HA, MA) go through the same PSLE paper/ route in the end, although the GEP kids take different exams along the way from P4-6. During PSLE, all the papers are standard.Hi Zappy

The HA & MA kids take the same exams CA1, SA1, SA2, etc. From what I understand, there may be some worksheets or assignments which are tougher for the HA classes but I don't really have any details on those. They all do the same holiday projects. I don't personally think (my own opinion only) that there is really that big a difference in the HA/ MA at P3. Maybe more for ease of teaching and also to boost morale of the not-so-strong students so they have a chance of getting the High Achiever award at the end of the year.
Previously, during the P's talk, she mentioned that there is one MA class that will have a lower teacher-student ratio, so the teachers can focus on them more. I thought this was a good thing rather than emphasis on all the top students all the time.
Oh one additional thing to add to your previous question, after the S-formation, the school will tweak so that at least 1 other kid from the same P2 class will go together to the new P3 class. This is so that no student will go to the new P3 class totally alone with no familiar faces. -
anyone know how many Students clear Round 1 GEP test (held in August 2015), and clear Round 2 (held in October), this year ?
