Congrats dardar!

There's one RGPS girl per class. All the teachers of each class will grade the girls holistically in Sem 1 & 2. The scores are tabulated and the girl with the highest score gets the award. -

Hi,

All the teachers of each class will grade the girls holistically in Sem 1 & 2. The scores are tabulated and the girl with the highest score gets the award.
supposed to be one \"Rgps girl\" award, per class.
This award usually goto someone in the class who can carry herself well with confidence, can project the image of Rgps school well.
Often, she is an all-rounder, like an ambassador, for Rgps school image.
Usually, this candidate not only good academically, but behavior wise :- is mature in thinking, able to demo problem-solving leadership quality during class activities, show creativity, etc.
let's go back to the fundamental :
first, what is the definition, of an \"Rgps girl\" ?
The definition, can be found inside our Student's Manual, or found inside Primary 1 Orientation slide.
here is the definition
(turn to page 12 (on values inculcated) and page 13, slide) of the P1 Orientation slides
http://swt3.vatitude.com/qql/slot/u451/ ... 202015.pdf
if above link is broken, may click below
(choose the P1 Orientation slide, whereby inside provide the definition, of what is an \"Rgps girl\", all about ?)
http://www.rafflesgirlspri.moe.edu.sg/e ... /primary-1
for example
Who won't get this award ?
dear (K2 parents whose daughter coming on board P1 soon), please take note :
During class activities, if your daughter is those very spoilt, pampered or selfish type of character, or display self-centredness that cause the entire group to miss their recess, or stay back behind during recess time, to re-submit or to re-do the class activity assignment, Tr will take note of your daughter's behavior in group dynamics, your daughter can never have a chance to win this \"Rgps girl\" award.
Tr won't pick those girls that possess the mentality of \"me, me, me\".
(because students in Rgps come from all walk of life : different type of family background, thus various kind of behavior characteristics can be observed quietly in class, by Form Tr / Subject Tr. Not all Rgps students are \"angels\")
Hence, during this remaining holiday season (1.5 months left until 4 Jan 2016), do spend some time going through with your daughter at home the above slide on, what is expected behavior of an \"Rgps\" pupil (refer slide #12)
for example (who get the award ? )
a) Scenario one
suppose there is a Tie.
suppose 2 candidates (X and Y) have exactly the same, identical Total Highest score in class, for 3 subjects (can be 29X or can be 300, upon 300)
but, between X and Y :
Tr can only choose one, to win this \"Rgps girl\" award. So, who get it ?
Tr then have to look into holistic evaluation criteria, to decide : choose X or choose Y ?
in the case of a Tie :
although 2 students in class achieve the same, highest Total score, however, only one pupil will get award, the other wont get.
take note
Suppose X got the award and not Y :
end up Y parents are unhappy, so ask Tr why inspite of having the same Total Highest score achieved as X, why only X get the award exclude her daughter Y, Tr won't entertain this type of inquiry.
(Tr never disclose to parents during PTM : what this other holistic evaluation criteria is, or why Tr choose X for the award, and not Y, etc)
anyway PTM coming up this Wed (18 Nov) for P1/P2,
perhaps can try asking your daughter's Form Tr, what this award is all about, see what she reply.
b) Scenario two
not necessarily must always goto the Highest score pupil, in class.
Because the Highest score pupil in class, will receive an A4 sized letter, but not necessarily this award.
going by the definition of an \"Rgps girl\" in above slide referred to, clearly the criteria for this award, goes beyond academic score only.
in one year, there are 4 role model pupils, per class.
(as one Term : one role model pupil, get selected)
out of these 4 role model pupils :
Tr may deem one amongst them, good enough to win the \"Rgps girl\" award, or deem none of them good enough.
Instead, Tr may choose someone else from the class (apart from the role model pupils), for this award.
Thus, criteria to win this award : is very subjective & secretive.
It is a mystery, a black box. -
anyone know how many P3 girls clear Round 1 GEP test (held in August 2015), and clear Round 2 (held in October), this year ?

Hearsay 72 / 25 -
25 out of 270 is 9.3%. This is really high. Is this baseline performance?
