expulsion of students that misbehaved or done wrong from the school is never the solution. Most expelled kids will never get their act back together.....expulsion from the school for his impulsive act.

Which is why they did not expel him but only punished him? But even punishment you feel it is harsh?? Personally I feel it is better to learn a lesson well, than learn it half-baked and repeat again.

Can you share the article on the ACS provoking the SAS boy?Thought there was further mention that someone (not sure if it's the same ACS boy) batted a fallen SAS boy on the head, said something not quite complimentary about him and his mother. A bit like that World Cup (whatever match) where the footballer headbutted the other guy?
It's not right to punch that guy up, I agree.
But it's definitely not right to taunt your opponent like that. At that age, probably he felt that to whack and defend your honour is important. Complaining will only lead one to be deemed a ninny?

If this was true, it would have still been silly of the SAS boy to respond and be at a losing end on his own. If there had been witnesses, the ACS boy should be asked to make an apology for his obnoxious remark, lacking in sportsmanship. In fact, best time to set record straight with ACS boys, and let this news go to the media instead. Unity is strength, if the whole SAS team pressured the coach of ACS team for that apology, it would probably have been better. They learn team sports but never appreciate the essence of team strength.
If we think that out on the streets, the ACS boy would have ended in the morgue...isn't that a scary thought that these kids have gone to good schools in vain and ruin their own future:? -

The Straits Times also obtained a copy of a private e-mail sent out by SAS principal Belinda Charles to the St Andrew's chairman, board of governors, management committee, Alumni Executive Committee, Parent-Teacher Association, and House Committee.
In it, she explained that the incident started after 'an ACS player batted the head of an SAS player who was still lying down and taunted him as a loser and made uncomplimentary remarks about his mother'.
The observation in her e-mail was similar to allegations the SAS' rugby adviser Richard Vanderput made after the incident on Monday.
He said: 'The question here is what did that ACS boy say to our player.

No. I'm just saying that taunting people and making uncomplimentary remarks is not becoming of any person who aspires to be a gentleman. We always talk about meritocracy and performing well but we forget the process to get there is just as important in the sportsmanship training. During coaching of sports activity, doesn't the coach emphasize on sportsmanship too? Perhaps it's high time they do.
Why am I so annoyed? When I hear the ACS boy started by making remarks he should not have....it irked me alot because I had heard such remarks dozen times in the swimming pool too. These boys I know, they are from reputatable schools too.....in fact worse, the more reputatable, the more obnoxious their behaviour and their parents would see and be blind to the misdeeds.
I am adamant that coaches should inspire children to excel but at the same time have the right sportsmanship.
This was what happened in the pool that I overheard or saw first-hand and mainly from naughty boys and some naughty girls too: :x
1. When someone reached the end of the pool first, he would turn around and called the one coming in second...\"Loser\" or chant....\"you are a loser....you are a loser...\" :roll:
2. And during a swim, when he saw the second in line coming near, he would stick out his hand to push the person away or create a block. :x
3. Alternatively, he would kick the person with his legs and it would hit the person's eyes and slowed the person down. :x
4. Then when they spot a weaker kid, they would not stop tormenting verbally that person that he or she is slow. I also overheard 2-3 of them would discuss the slowest kid in the team and criticised him or her for not swimming well. Should they when they are all training together or they have mistaken themselves as a coach? :roll:
5. And some who did not know how to use the mouth to speak would simply keep tapping on the water to get attention.. :shock:
6. During the swim, when discovered someone catching up from behind, then would quickly use another style that he/she is good at to open up the gap first before resuming the original style supposed to swim. Cheating? :x
UGLY? To me, these are very typical ugly behaviour at times cascaded from adults or adults who do not correct the kids. I made no hesitation in letting the coach know about this because I believe a real winner sportsman is not made this way.....this is all underhand tactics to me. The coach agreed. :celebrate: -

What also of the ACS boy who sent the Bedok Sec boy to the hospital in intensive care?
Is it acceptable to call other peoples’ mothers names
even in the heat of competition?
In the last World Cup, Zizou, a normally cool guy, lost it when
Materazzi, with much lesser talent, allegedly called Zizou’s sister n mother uncomplimentary names to get him out of the game.
In some cultures, doing this would send the provocateur to the morgue no less!

Personally I have bad encounters with today's ACS boys...so my impression of them is http://www.postimage.org/
However, objectively, in this case because it is not the ACS boy who made news, the newspapers reporter may not have followed up with ACS so no news lor. But hopefully they read your post and go check them out. :lol: -
