My friend’s DD scored 253+3 and was offered 3rd lang (French, german, jap, spanish) too.
-
No impact if opt out. Honestly it’s not easy to manage 3rd lang esp when the kid is in IP programme as their schedule r alr
tight due to cca commitment and other special programmes offered by individual IP schools. -

hi careermum, in RI you can appeal via supplementary intake. Need to submit the application together with all the necessary documents, eg. result slip, cca cert, awards. Last yr with COP at 256, I knw of a student with 255 managed to get in. All the best!..
May I ask how to appeal?kwcllf:
It makes a difference if you put the school as 1st or 2nd or 3rd choice. When you appeal, I know some schools will ask to state whether you have put them as your 1st, 2nd or 3rd choices.
Although they won't explicitly tell you it makes any difference, I think it does. So choose carefully.
(my DS got 259+2 also; we are thinking of putting RI 1st choice.
If miss by 1 to 2 points, what else do the school look at?) -
one down one more to go! daughter just got back her results and now it’s my son’s turn in 2018!

Thanks Edyboy.
Do any of you know of successful appeals without going thru’ interviews? (ie just based on results/cca/leadership); coz we will be overseas from X’mas eve onwards & won’t be able to go for interviews if called for. -
Careermum:
From what I heard so far, top schools and 2nd tier schools require interviews but not (some) lower tier schools. Thanks Edyboy.

ParkYuni:
Interview is part of the appeal process for the upper tier schools.

If you skip the interview, another boy/girl will be saying thank you for your kind deed. -
haha, ok.
I was actually hoping that DS credentials are good enough, and need not go for interview -
Hi! pestymum, you may consider Kent Ridge SS instead of Bukit Merah SS and Outram SS. I visit Kent Ridge SS and notice principal, vice-principals and teachers are committed. School programmes intend to nurture its students and such programmes open to all students instead of selected students with good results.
