My boy is in pri 4 this year. Used to have a 1 to 1 sch teacher tutor ($50/hr) but he failed terribly. However, this year we enrolled him to Just Education and he managed to score 80+ in SA1 & full marks in CA2. The math tutor, Mrs Chai managed to get his attention and the tuition fees are reasonable at only $120/mth for 2 hours per session.

                  Hi all,

Chloe here, mum of 3 children. Very into enrichment cos i think our local school not providing creative learning or additional stretching of children potential.

I heard PlayFACTO School has arrived in Singapore. They have been very successful in Korea, Japan in creatively coaching and guiding mathematics and concepts in a fun way. Not sure if any mommies have seen them? My friends in Korea told me they are very very effective and fun to learn too. Children love it. Cant wait to try it out once they come in. Understand from their web that they are beginning in Toa Payoh. Anyone knows about them more details?

This is my first post in almost 2 months. It’s been a mad rush for me with a kid in P6 and one in Secondary school. The entire school selection process has been a headache and I’ve finally managed to get my son in a ‘‘decent’’ school.

Now that I’ve got everything settled. I’ll like to thank the teachers at Indigo for their help. Besides academic support, one of their teachers even helped me with the school selection process and appeal. I feel that they go out of their way to help their students. My boy P6 to S1 boy was with him for the entire 2015. Initially, he was unmotivated but still scoring decent marks (about 80 marks) at Ai Tong Primary. Being Kiasu, and knowing that he can definitely get an A* for PSLE, I enrolled him at Indigo. The reason why my boy likes it so much there is because the lessons are very systematic. The teacher breaks the problem down into simple bit size information, which is easy for my boy to digest and understand. Thus, for any problem, my boy has the ability to distill the question. This is a great boost to his confidence when solving sums. The Math teacher also very expressive in nature, and sometimes a little bit dramatic. However, my boy seems to enjoy every lesson because its very different from primary school teachers. He absorbs knowledge better when he is having fun learning rather than being scolded. Thus, although I’m a graduate, I rather let someone teach my son and i’m rather impatient.

This same teacher at Indigo currently teachers my girl who is from sec 3 moving on to sec 4 at Crescent Girls. My daughter’s first A Math test this year was 35% and she said that it was ‘‘normal’’ and everyone did badly so its okay. I really refuse to allow this kind of answer to be given from my daughter. Hence, I enrolled her at Indigo too. Initially, she was reluctant because she has a ‘‘ton of social life’’ according to her. But with some bribery, she allowed herself to learn. This math teacher basically taught her a maths from scratch during the June term break as part of his revision package. He provides notes, summary of topics, variations of questions showing how one topic can be asked in several ways. In summary, his teaching is very systematic and easy to understand. My daughter got a B3 for her EOY but considering the big jump in marks and the fact that my daughter is motivated to go for lessons, I think her improvement is tremendous. He assured me that 2 A1s for A and E maths is very much possible!

It’s not everyday you get to find an effective teacher who is able to connect with students, thus motivating them, yet also being very clear in his teaching and have good materials. This one is really worth the recommendation.

Hi, I am desperately looking for a reliable private math home tutor (full time tutor or school teacher) who can teach my P2 girl.

Strictly Weekday morning (anyday) at my house in Toa Payoh.

If you have any recommendation of tutors with proven results, do let me know.
Tuition agencies or group tuition need not reply. Thanks!

                        Hello all...

Newbie here...would like to know if MPM or CMA would be more relevant for kids preparing to go P1? Please advise. TIA.

Both also no need, bec both don't help in our MOE Maths syllabus

CMA only prepare children for mental sums.
But is our Moe Maths syllabus teaching only just mental sums, or much more beyond ?

MPM doesn't suit our Sg Maths Moe syllabus

                        Hi phtthp,
Actually want to enrol my K1 to Kumon buf found out that their syllabus taught is not in accordance with MOE. Read from another thread in this forum, parents feedback that MPM Maths syllabus are planned and taught in line with MOE curriculum? They even teaches Model drawing in lower primary.
