Yes, you can apply with the same A level results. Some of the boys I know got in on the second year bec their experience in NS strengthened their CVs and their maturity helped in interviews as well.

      :thankyou:

Elder boy has decided to apply at one uni next year. If this uni rejects his application, he will then apply at other uni the following year.

NUS-FASS has first year common... then based on first year result you get Major... Quite competitive & if you dun get major in Psychology , rest options won't get you proper 9 to 6 job.

SMU School of humanities is definitely better option

I am curious - for non IP JCs, when do they start new term for JC1?

Will it be when the students from JAE come in end of Jan?

I believe so. That's what it says on the MOE website.

So, these JCs will only have JC2 students from Jan 4 onwards.

I wonder - will it be better for JAE students to start on the same footing as everyone in non-IP JCs compared to entering IP JCs where the JC1 students already have a headstart. Wont JAE students be at a disadvantage?

What sort of headstart are you thinking of? I think the JCs will not try to start the IP students’ lessons sooner. My daughter tells me that she has heard from her seniors that the first 2 weeks is the "nothing serious" stuff, more to keep them in school and occupied (and out of their parents’ hair). Academic stuff only begins after the JAE students come in. They won’t even know their classes until after that.

On the other hand, it’s true that the IP students will know a lot of ex-schoolmates, and that it will definitely be easier for them socially. I guess JCs with sec school affiliations will be like that too. I can only hope that the IP students will make a good effort to mingle with the JAE students once they come in. My daughter was just musing aloud about how to do that, so hopefully there will be others like her in those JCs.
