Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools
-
Hi All,
Need advise here.
My situation now is very complicate.
I just sold my house in punggol and moved to my parent's place in Pasir Ris.
At the same time, I have purchased a new place in punggol which will only TOP Mar 2018.
My girl will be registering Primary 1 Next year (2016) for 2017 intake. She is born in 2010.
I am old school girl from Pasir Ris Primary (Pasir Ris).
From my situation is more advisable to register my girl to school which is in punggol right?
My new place is within 1-2km from Mee toh (Punggol) and within 1km from Horizon Primary School (Punggol). I am keen in these two schools.
But both Mee toh and Horizon are popular school in Punggol.
Any parent here have the same situation as me?
What will you all do?
Can any parents here give some advise?
Thanks! :salute: -
Frankly, the odds are not good.
First, Mee Toh is definitely out since it required balloting within 1km in phase 2C.
Second, according to the balloting history http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/punggol,
Horizon has a 239% APP in phase 2C. That means, for every 10 vacancies,
there are 24 applicants vying for that 10 spots.
DD's classmate stayed with her grandparents during weekdays because of the
proximity to the school, only going back to her own home on weekends.
Would that be an option for you, provided your parents are willing
and able to take care of your child? -
Hi BigDevil,
Thanks for your advise but the issue is my parent will be moving to punggol with me. -

You should apply to a primary school in Punggol. However, you don't have to consider Mee Toh as your chance (for >1 km) is as good as zero.Hi BigDevil,

For Horizon, if you are not bothered by having to choose from a school with vacancies in Phase 2Cs, you can go for it. Balloting is likely to occur for <1 km. If you prefer something that is more certain and less risky, Oasis or Waterway would be the other options. -

Hi all,
Are there any schools that do NOT do streaming for P3? Is it mandatory for all schools? How does the subject based streaming work? Can someone pls explain?
Thank you -
