Hmm...that's a good idea too.Hi BigDevil,
We tried the downtown line yesterday too.
We alighted at Tan Kah Kee station and there's a bus stop there, take any bus from there, then alight at second bus stop, outside HCI, cross the overhead bridge. No junction, very convenient.
Perhaps you can have a try at this route, the free travel is up til 1st Jan.
From Pasir Ris to NYGH, our estimated time is 1 hr 5 mins.
I think it's quite convenient with the downtown line.
We still have a son whom we need to send to NYPS in the morning.
So likelihood is to drop DD off along Coronation Road, and she can
catch a bus outside Coronation Plaza and alight opp NJC. -

Oh ok...thought it's a regular thing.
Hello! I think it's a special system for open house, because we just use money to buy foodBigDevil:
During one NYGH open house, I vaguely remembered seeing students
purchasing food at the canteen using some kind of coupon/ticket?
Could someone please elaborate on how that work?
On average, how much does your daughter spend on meals per day? -
My niece from NJC took a direct bus (i think is 74) from Hougang and it usually took her around 45 minute, she said it is the best way if the bus stop is within walking distance.

BigDevil:
Hi, big devil, :thankyou: i did same as you yesterday. option2 is best way, i hope no trafic jam along bukit timah during morning.Pattyhong:
Any one can tell me, my daughter live in sengkang(near MRT), what is best way to go NYGH every morning?school bus?MRT to sixth avenue? Or MRT botanic garden then bus?
I tried the route planner
http://www.transitlink.com.sg/eservice/how2go/h2g.php
and got the following options.
1) Bus 156 - direct bus to NYGH...but estimated travelling time is 1h 36m!!
2) Sengkang MRT - switch to Circle Line at Serangoon - Botanic Garden
Transfer to Bus 66/67/151/154/156/170/171 and
alight at the stop opposite NJC.
Estimated travelling time 53mins
A third alternative is of course to switch train at Botanic Garden
to travel to Sixth Avenue.
We took advantage of the free travel yesterday and did a dry run. It took us
12-13 mins to walk from 6th Avenue station to NYGH, and having to cross
3 junctions. So I would think option 2, taking a bus from Botanic Garden,
is a better choice. -
You can try SengKang MRT - switch to DownTown Line 2 at Little India - Tan Kah Kee station…
-
Our nearest station is Beauty World…but seem that taking bus is a lot easier in getting to NYGH…
-
Agree that taking bus is easier.
The nearest MRT station is nearly 1km away,
whereas the bus stop is just outside/opposite the side gate. -
Do the girls need to bring laptop to school?
Deciding whether to buy an ultra book or just a regular one. -
Hi girls,
What do they need to bring on the first day of sch next Monday?
Understand that it’s orientation week, so no books? Just pencil case and notebook?
TIA! -

Hi, we were given a copy of the school bus service contact list in the Sec 1 Registration Folder last year. Other than the Mr Chan that you have already contacted, there are 2 more operators in the list that also provides transport from tampines area. You can try calling if you are still keen on the bus service, not sure if there are any changes though as it is last year's list.
Apparently they are under one provider. I call Mr Chan yesterday. He passed the call to Jenny who told me all school bus seats from Tampines to NYGH were taken up. Guess I was late.
